  • Oops Ketchup

I have been on the induction for 9 days. I am pretty sure I dropped almost 14 lbs. (depends on the time of day I weigh myself) I have been eating liberal portions. Lots of bunless Baconators from Wendys, Steakums with cheddar cheese, and Thinly sliced Lemon Pepper Chicken breast from Boars head. MMM oh and Clausen pickles.

Well tonight, I got my bunless Baconators and started pigging out while reading email. 1/2 way through the 2nd one I realized there was ketchup on it. I scraped as much off as I could, I am not a big ketchup fan anyway, continued to eat the rest of the 2nd and 3rd. I am wondering what problems eating the ketchup will cause. Will I stall?

I love Atkins.. It is the best diet for me because of portion control issues.

Also.. whats the deal with all the atkins snacks? Do they cause stalls?

Is all this greasy high fat food going to cause high cholesterol or is that somehow circumvented because of no carbs and sugar?

    TIA

The Atkins snacks made by atkins nutritionals? stay away from those, when your at the top of the OWL ladder they're not too bad but they do stall most people!

Make your own Atkins snacks, theres tonnes in the recipes section on this board!

Did you not get your cholesterol checked before you started Atkins? thats the best way to keep an eye on that but generally, no... most peoples go down!

as for the ketchup, its not gonna cause you a huge problem if you didnt eat that much, up your water for a couple of days - ketchup is full of sugar! beware in future!

      Hi, Tubby

A couple of things... I want to make sure I understand what you mean when you say Atkins is the best diet because of portion control issues. Is it because you think portions don't count on Atkins, or is it because you feel satisfied quickly?

Atkins snacks - unfortunately, they make most people stall. I was trying to use the bars and shakes when I first started, but it was easy to determine that they were stalling me big time, so I don't do them.

And the part I want to touch upon the most - you asked: "or is that somehow circumvented because of no carbs and sugar? " I want to make it clear that Atkins is NOT no carb! Do you eat any veggies besides pickles?

And one last thing - have you read the 2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution? It's a must!

Congrats on the pounds loss so far. I'm glad you are enjoying Atkins. Feel free to post any questions you may have, and good luck.

Yes, I had my cholesterol checked perhaps 2 weeks prior. I had borderline high cholesterol 3 months ago and my doctor immediately put me on Crestor and now it is considered low.

I think I get satisfied quicker on Atkins. I do not have to limit myself. I eat liberal portions until I am full. But it is a different "kind of" full than say, eating a whole pizza. I do not feel like I need a nap or like I am going to explode.

Then a couple hours later if I want to snack I can eat some chicken breast or Steak-ums and pickles.. and viola full again. I need to up my water intake.

I haven't read any of the books for a while. I read one of the original books almost 4 years ago..And I went on it then I lost 40 or 50 lbs but was using food as a reward system and ultimately I failed. Can you say pizza?

I plan on staying on induction forever. Never adding nuts or fruit. At least not until I have lost a lot.. and I mean a lot of weight.

Funny enough, I realized the trick for stopping all addictions. It is a mental thing (obviously) but more importantly. I've learned to find the point I need to get to before I am ready to stop whatever the addiction is. Without going in to too much detail I have been able to walk away from almost 2 decades full of addictions; coke, meth, sex, nicotine, weed beer, xanax. Controlling food portions is the only thing I have not been able to overcome yet. Nicotine was the hardest I have had a couple of nicotine relapses over the past 6 months. Anyway.. sorry for blabbing it is easy to talk about things when you can be sort-of anonymous.

Well you know, it is harder to wean yourself off food because you can't go "cold turkey"! It will ALWAYS be there, and always be tempting. This WOE makes the carb addictions go away (believe me, I know) and you WILL take the weiht off. You have been successful with other addictions, you know what? I am SURE you are gonna do great...and we're all here behind you...Good luck on this journey!
