  • half and half

I think I mightve asked this question a few months ago...but...half and half is ok for induction right? 2 tbs has 1 carb. heavy cream...in coffee...seems just a bit too ...that...heavy for me.

so...the half and half is OK as long as I count it in my daily values?

And..its not like i have it everyday. sometimes.

    thanks everyone

        Re: half and half

I believe in following the Atkins plan to the letter. I've seen too many people try to adjust the plan to their taste and be unsuccesfull. I also beleive that induction, even more then the rest of the plan, is the most important time to do it "clean".

That being the case I have to say that half and half is a no no on induction. It would be no different if you had a single peanut. Peanuts are not allowed on induction, they are for the nut phase of OWL. Milk is not OK on induction, it is for the dairy run of OWL.

I know this is not the response you want to hear and I'm sorry about that. Now, some people can and do get away with making changes to this plan and they are perfectly fine and succesful. Maybe you are one of those people, and certainly you can and will decide on your own if half and half is something you are going to have, but if so you should know that you will be making a deviation from the good doctor's plan.

          Re: half and half

I used to mix some water with heavy cream (double cream in UK) on induction to thin it out.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

            Singer, welcome to Atkins!

I am a big milk-drinker (well, 2 cups, hot, mixed with coffee in the a.m. is my usual deal), and it is **** to give that up.

I also find that heavy cream is just too....heavy.....so what I do is dilute it with water. Most of the time, there's a little pitcher filled with a mixture of half heavy cream and half water in my fridge. If not, then I put cream in a cup first, add water, and THEN put my coffee in.

They'll let you do it at restaurants if you ask, too.

thanks everyone! i decided to just drink it black anyhow. and i know the threads on caffeine, but it really does help me lose weight faster.

anyways...i decided to restart induction today, as you all said, to the T. I still feel fantastic though after doing really well yesterday (except for the half and half).

              yay!
