    Hi everyone

    Im back to low carbing, as I have PCOS and it really helps my insulin and hormones! I have been very successfully losing weight now combined with metformin (before I couldnt lose any weight even in induction - due to messed up insulin metabolism)

    To cut the long story short I had a large icecream yesterday covered in hot fudge sauce, whipped cream and maltesers topping, and I never came out of ketosis. Yesterday on the chart it was minimal ketones and today its now moderate ketones.

    How is this possible?

    You can have up to about 100 carbs a day and still be in ketosis - that doesnt mean your still losing weight.

    also it could be a false reading, if you testing in the morning or after exercise or after alcohol, that can produce a false positive

      It's actually difficult to get out of ketosis once you're in it.

      What ISN'T difficult is to get your blood sugar going to a point where your weight loss stalls. That can happen even within ketosis.

      So don't do that again, y'hear? !!!!!!!

        WOW and thank you for your insight! I really didnt know this. I thought ketosis=weight loss

        The funny thing is, I gained a pound by eating this icecream! And still in ketosis

        So seeing as Im still in Ketosis, does it mean that I still am getting the benefits of the smelly breath hehe and also the decreased appetite?

        While at my worst with hormones I would eat a tomato or onion and be out of ketosis and just be a sugar hungry monster. I guess the metformin is helping keep me in ketosis, meaning that Im utilising carbs as energy now instead of fat.?
