I can't seem to find anything about carbs or if it affects atkins at all. Everytime I search it brings up Copenhagen University & Copenhagen, Denmark.

Just wondering if anyone has any information on how it would affect the diet at all?

Chewing tobacco contains high levels of fermentable sugars (carbohydrates), but snuff has much lower levels. So if you are swallowing the "juices" of a chewing tobacco, I would think you could be ingesting extra carbs.

Here's a JADA (Journal of American Dental Association) PDF article:
          jada.ada.org/cgi/reprint/130/11/1601.pdf

          Excerpt:
A 1980 study that analyzed the sugar content of popular commercial brands of chewing tobacco and snuff reported that three brands of loose-leaf chewing tobacco contained very high levels of fermentable sugars (30 to 40 percent by weight). The sugars in these products included glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose and isomaltose. In contrast, two popular snuff brands (Skoal and Copenhagen) had very low sugar content (less than 2 percent)...

I generally do chew copenhagen/skoal, no redman, beechnut or anything like that which definately does taste better, so I could see it having a high amount of sugar.

            Thanks a bunch
