  • Early into induction

Well, I finally got there. For the first couple days of last week (Mon, Tues, Wed) I had carbs up in the 100s because I was trying to just eat my atkins food and I faltered a bit and had some carbs that weren't good for me (bagels at work, a soda to pick me up late in the afternoon, a piece of pie the day before my TOM). Then Thurs and Fri I had carbs down to 24 and 20 respectively. And for the last 3 days I've had carbs below 15/day! I'm pretty excited about this. I've adjusted well to 1 coffee/day (black) from soda and refused:
salt and vinegar chips at work
the new blueberry drink at starbucks that my husband got while we were out
ice cream and cake on my own birthday!

Just wanted to celebrate finally being under 20 carbs/day!

Let's hope the weight follows so I can get to OWL soon

      Re: Early into induction

some of my carbs come from the cheese I enjoy every day (some parm, some cream cheese), some come from the eggs (I count 0.5 for every egg) and most come from the veggies (red bell peppers, zucchini, or spinach!)

I made a taco salad and a quiche this week from Linda's site so I have prepared meals. I also got prepared chicken breasts, hamburgers, and fish that just needs 10 min in a frying pan. Makes it easier when you don't have to plan meals since all my fave carb snacks were quick and easy too!

Good for you, Pink Bikini! You should be proud of yourself. I have a feeling you will do GREAT with this new lifestyle of yours. If temptation hits, remind yourself of the strength you showed when you didn't give in at Starbucks OR your birthday. Happy belated Birthday by the way. You have given yourself a priceless gift by choosing this WOL. I look forward to hearing about your successes along the way.

you seem to be off to a flying start!
                Keep up the good work!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                  Re: Early into induction

Thank you for all the support everyone.

After being strictly under 20 carbs since Saturday my hubby and I have doubled our a.m. walks easily to 2 hrs (from 1 hr approx) and I've lost 7 lbs in the last 9 days!!! And 4 of those days were just exercising (I was still eating some carbs but attempting to get comfortable with atkins by trying to switch over to mostly induction foods! I did have my first stall already (3 days at 123.4 lbs exactly) when I began to panic and wonder if all the fat was putting me over the edge or whether the exercise was "not enough" but sure enough, within a 24 hr period the scale dropped down almost 2 lbs!!

I like to check the scale daily but I'm also checking measurements once/week. It's just exciting that I'm way beyond my 10-15% induction goal and not even through 2 weeks of official induction! Maybe I'll hit goal during induction and be able to move up the rungs of the other phases quickly!
