  • Help! I'm becoming a prisoner to my scale

Not to long ago you couldn't make me get on my scale. Now I find myself getting on it more and more. I get frustrated when my weight fluctuates. I know that is normal, but when you are working so hard it can be a big let down. Please talk some sense into me.

My scale used to make me CRAZY, then my grandbaby dropped it a few times and now it does not work. I like to weigh every day, some of that is I like to fuss at the scale. I need a new one.
if you weigh every day or more. take those numbers and average them out over a month and you will feel much better. Add the total weigh ins for a month and divide by 30

      Hi

I weigh once a week. It is much easier for me to get excited over a 1 pound loss for the week if I haven't watched it go back and forth for days. I just get on the scale in the morning of my weekly weigh day and it is what it is. And on those weeks when I lose 3 pounds, it is just great to see such a difference.

Lots of people on the board do weigh everyday and don't let the fluctuations get to them, but it would drive me batty. The once a week thing is hard sometimes, but overall I am pleased with it.

Also take measurements for reassurance when the scales are being unkind. Many people lose inches without the scales moving!

Re: Help! I'm becoming a prisoner to my scale

I like to weigh everyday first thing in the morning. However, I only count the once a week weight (well unless i really like what the scale says).

Re: Help! I'm becoming a prisoner to my scale

I weigh every morning, if there is a change (good or bad) I measure as well and write it all down.
If there hasn't been a change for a few days, I'll measure as well to see if there has been any change that didn't show on the scale.
I want to know exactly how what I eat effects my weight/measurements, so I can't go a week or so without the scale.
It doesn't bother me that much anymore though, I look at the measurements more than the weight now
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

Re: Help! I'm becoming a prisoner to my scale

I admit too to being a slave to the scale. I am ashamed to admit, but will admit it nonetheless - I weigh on average 3 or 4 times a day. Now that is not natural is it? It shows signs of being majorly obsessive, bordering on crazy.

I think it does happen though to anyone who is an ex fatty. I am petrified of putting it all back on that I am obsessive about it all.

Thanks for letting me get that off of my chest.

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Thank you guys for letting me know that I am not the only one who does this. I will also start to measure to see if I am losing inches when I am not losing weight. I am going to try to wait and weigh once a week so that my scale does not drive me crazy.

Another fun thing to do is pick out some clothes that are just a smidge too tight. I think you'll notice more accurate losses when your clothes get looser. (I am a terrible measurer....)

                    Yeah,

Im a scale slave also. I took mine to my neices house who lives about 20 minutes away. I dont want to keep driving over there to weigh, so I only do it when I visit her. Works great for me!! Good luck!
