  • I am back...survived Dean

    Hi guys,

Just checking in to tell you all that I am alive. I made it through the hurricane unscathed. There are a number of persons who lost their roofs, but overall I think we weathered it well. Unfortunately there are 2 reported deaths. Our trees took the brunt of the winds and lost many of their limbs. We are in a cleaning up and rebuilding phase right now, once again giving God thanks for changing the path of the hurricane at the last minute. We have been blessed in that regard in the last few years. They always make a shift and not make a direct hit when that is predicted up to the last minute.

Presently some parts of the island are still without water and electricity. I have water but no electricity. At the moment I am using an inverter with my car battery to get some cooling down from the fan and to check online for mails etc.

Sad to say that I messed up my induction and had carbs yesterday and sunday night (wholewheat pasta). I have given myself the kick that I need and am trying to get back on track today. So far I have had only boiled eggs and chicken, so no bad carbs. The scale thankfully has been kind to me too. After doing bad those 2 days I weighed in at basically the same, in fact on Monday I even went down to 186.2. Hopefully with restarting today I will stem whatever damage I may have caused. The only good thing is that I found out that I dont really crave some of what I did before, so even though I cheated it was with "good carbs in the form of wholewheat pasta"

Thanks for all you support guys and your prayers helped us and our tiny nation in surviving Dean.

Hey there, I was worried about you 2 nights ago, i looked at the weather channel, and it looked like it was right over you. glad to hear you are ok, hope the clean up isn't too bad there. don't worry about having the carbs, you had good reason to, and whole wheat pasta isn't too bad, at least you didn't have a slice of chocolate cake..hee hee

Glad to see you made it through it safely! I do remember the no electricity days after Katrina, I hope you get it back real soon!

Glad you're OK. Hope all goes well with the clean up and rebuilding. Don't worry about the pasta. Just start over. That's the beauty of this way of life. If you slip up, you just start over at square one.
