  • my 7th day - did I mess it up?

    Hello there!

So this is my 7th day and it's been quite interesting. Tell me if you think I totally BLEW this induction diet or not...

I was sick...really really sick (warning - I'm going to be gross here)...So I had a cough and cold (no biggy right?) - I was just taking Alka-Seltzer Plus Day cold and nigt cold tablets b/c I didn't want to take the cough syrup bc of the loaded sugar - and I did get better HOWEVER...

I had legit nasal DRIP. So when this happens...I'll be sitting at work and it feel like water is just running down my face from my nose (obviously not water) - but then I blow my nose, ok cool. but then SOME of the nasal drip goes down my throat and into my stomach and after a few days of THAT - ...It made my stomach hurt. I couldn't eat AT ALL for two whole days. It made me bloated, full all the time and pains here and there. AND when i tried to eat - It came out...the OTHER end, if you know what I mean...and green too!! so gross1!!

So as you might imagine...after not eating for 2 whole days and not being hungry..then having it wear oFF - you kinda want MORE food..

So yesturday I wake up, I make an omlette. I'm good. 5 hours later I have a small salad but it wasn't enough so I had an atkins shake. I think i'm still okay even though I NEVER have atkins shake unless I know i'm gone for 10 hours and will not have access to food. And as for the salad, it was SOO small (i didn't have much lettuce yet)...nothing good inside it either like chicken it was just lettuce and dressing.

But THEN for dinner I was out of groceries and needed something in my stomach and usually after i'm sick or during - i crave crackers but I refused to eat that....so instead...I have these small wraps that are 4 carbs each and I have natural peanut butter with zero sugar and 4 carbs for 2 tbs (it kinda is gross compared to the good stuff but it's healthier)... and I made two of those wraps with 1 tbs of that peanut butter in each wrap ...so that was 4 + 4 + 4 = 12 carbs

but that's not really induction food - more like maintenance right?
Then - I went out after that and drank water at the bar alllll night long. Just water. hhaha...
I woke up this morning - I look skinny!!

So When the 2 weeks is over...i'm going to parties for labor day weekend and I believe I'm allowing my mich ultra into the diet but I was strong about not drinking for the 1st two weeks..

but did i mess it all up b/c of my little peanut butter wraps? they are smallll small wraps 4 carbs each but not really induction appropriate.

boo - i mean i'm going to keep going but what do you all think? i DIDN'T EAT FOR 48 HOURS!!! i wanted something in my system u know?

    let me know ur thoughts.
    THANKS XOXOXO

Hi Michelle. I am new to this WOE/WOL. If you want to do a clean induction you really only need to eat the items on the acceptable foods list. If you eat the wrong food by accident or intentionally, just start over. That is the beauty of the Atkins approach.

You shouldn't have, but it wont effect you. Your body was deprived and you needed food. It wasnt HIGH carb. Although you shouldn't do that EVER, it wasnt like you pigged out on top of normal food. Your body was deprived - just go back to normal from now and you wont see a gain.

My thought is the same. Just don't do it again!

Those wraps can be a lifesaver, in my opinion. Especially, when you are sick. Sometimes, you just need something like that to settle your stomach. I would say, that you did reach for the right thing. I use them once in a blue moon when we are traveling and everyone else is reaching for a sandwich. I KNOW it is not the way to go, but it is better than a full on cheat.

Hang in there. YOU are doing great.

          rung 5 - wine -
          rung 6 - beans, hummus
          rung 7 - other fruits
rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
          Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range

Awww yes thankyou so much. It's good to hear that others have used those wraps. Now - when exactly ARE they acceptable? My problem is I go from Induction and when It's time to move on - I do it incorrectly and fall off completely...I stink with transition and I know we CAN have those wraps in the later phases for sure...they are super healthy...

ok, back to work for me...
This site can take me away from being productive in the office for HOURS literally! haha

You need to look at the list of ingredients to determine at which OWL rung all the ingredients are 'legal' and when you reach that rung, then add 5 net carbs of them to see if they affect you adversely to see if they are OK for your body to handle.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Re: my 7th day - did I mess it up?

Yes...I always knew how to do it - but for some reason...I'm not a good transition girl. The 5 extra carbs made me crave well...1,000's!!!! haha
                I'm aweful.

I'll guess I'll be the boards favorite person once I cross that road because I'll be on every minute of the day haha
