  • I messed up!

oh i messed up so bad yesterdy! I can kick myself in the butt bc thursday is my last day of induction and now i have to start alllllll over again. I had a twix bar, tortilla, grape juice, 1 mini choc muffin, toast w/ butter and chocolate milk! What's wrong with me! I was doing soo well, down 6pds in the first week. This am i got on the scale and it says i'm up 4pds ..can that really be true!!

So today i admit my wrongs, pack my lunch and eat my ham rolls and drink my water as i start a new day. Will i ever be out of induction????

Take a deep breath and calm down. Yes, it's possible to be up that much from eating bad carbs. Your body needs to retain fluid to process carbs. Your body needs much, much less to process protein and fat. That's why this WOE causes you to go to the little girls room so much at first.

Just start over, doing a very clean induction and it will quickly come off again. Extra water, exercise and clean induction will get you back in ketosis in a couple of days.

This was just a bump in the road.

Tasha - Is there any way you could maybe clear your cupboards clear of all naughty carbs for the 2 weeks you are on induction? That way if they arent there, you cant cheat!!

Why dont you join the cheat free challenge? Sometimes knowing that you have to log in and say you are cheat free helps - I know it does with me.

      good luck

                Re: I messed up!

Tasha - although you feel you have made a mess of your clean induction and might do well to continue on induction for a while longer, do make sure you take a note of your weightloss on the day that would have been the end of your 14 days induction and make a note of it.

The reason I suggest this is so you will have some idea of what kind of metabolic resistance to weightloss you have.
In DANDR there is a chart where you can use your first 14 days loss to discover this.

Although your numbers wont be as good as if you had not slipped offplan they will be a better indication of your personal resistance to weightloss than working out your losses over the next 14 days, because you have already lost some weight on induction and so will not be measuring the first 2 weeks loss, but the 3rd/4th weeks loss, which is usually a lot slower.

Though many people do benefit from continuing induction for longer than the 14 days suggested by Dr Atkins, there is no rule to say you have to complete a perfect 2 weeks on induction before moving to OWL - in fact many of us would never move on if that was the rule!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                  Re: I messed up!

Tasha, my parents came down for a 3 day visit a few weeks ago. I cheated during all 3 days and gained 8 pounds! It took me 3 days to gain 8 pounds and 9 days to get it back off. But it's gone again and it ain't coming back! Whoever said "you didn't gain it overnight so you can't lose it overnight" is full of it I've never LOST 8 pounds in 3 days Anyway, hang in there. It will come off again and you'll stay on track.

                    Re: I messed up!

o.k. thanks u guys. I will make sure i still weigh myself on the 14th day just to see how i'm doing. At least i know i'm not the only one who may have not done a completely clean 14 day induction. But i think i will stay on it a lil longer, until i get the hang of this and get rid of my sugar cravings...ohhhh its soo hard...
