I good proper laxative from the chemist will help. It's not good for you - whatever - you need to go to the toilet. Being constipated is worse for you than taking one.
The few times I had problems 'going' I used glycerine suppositories.
BTW on Atkins you might find your 'movements' become fewer in number as you are not eating all those nutritionally-empty carby foods.
If you are not feeling bunged up and uncomfortable and wanting to 'go' but not being able to, dont worry too much about it.

I think every body is different in this area. I am now on Day 5 and last night I added a tbs of Flaxseed powder to my salad. Let's just say it was very effective this morning!
Plus, I have been drinking at least 100 ozs of water every day ~ I think it helps tremendously.
Be sure you are drinking at least the minimum amount of water---64 fluid ounces daily.
Flax, psyllium and wheat bran are the 3 fibers Dr. Atkins allows during Induction. These fibers are known as "bulk forming laxatives" because of the way the work in the guts. They absorb water and expand forming a "bulk". The bulk stimulates the gut to move things along. If you don't take enough water, those fibers won't expand---they become will turn into something gluey like cement and can plug things up more.
