  • Good to be back, now i ask for help :)

Some might remember me from before but after long healthy 2 years with no weight gain at all.
I need to go back on it to loose somewhat 30 pounds.
Got married, had a massive car accident and put on well over 40 pounts in hospital for 2 months i was hospitalized.
Now all healthy and well and once again ask my fellow atkiners to land me a hand.

I know i use to regularly help folks here but now no shy to say i need a help of my self as i am not sure how much atkins has changed

I need some questions answered if some of you guys don't mind

    1. What meals would you guy recommend for me on induction stage i can take while i am at work. At work for RAIL CORP (government rail service) safety operation manager so i have to stick with my gang on out doors where i don't have access to microwave or freezer, and sometimes 1-3 times i am on a shift work night time so any meal ideas/plans or anyone been doing induction with this problem????

    2. Can you chew any sort of sugar free gum that u can buy in Australia and not fall off ketosis.

    3. Welcome me :P

welcome and so sorry to hear about your accident! Glad you have recovered.

I am a newbie so I don't really know diddly yet BUT I have also been struggling with the "bringing food to work" issue ~ I say you invest in a nice little thermal cooler/lunch bag and lug your food & water with you. With an ice pack (or frozen water bottle) you shouldn't have trouble keeping a salad and some tuna or meat fresh.

If you find a gum you can have, pls PM me & let me know!

Hi, Vlado! So glad you are back. So sorry about your accident. 2 months in the hospital must have been so difficult for you. Glad you are healthy now.

It may be worthwhile to invest in a small food cooler. I take deviled eggs and broiled chicken wings with blue cheese for lunch along with a hunk of lettuce or raw green beans and leftovers from previous nights dinner. Also some cheese, usually cheddar squares, for a snack if hungry. Taking an afternoon snack to work has been key to keep my on plan. Seems there is always so high carb junk in the office. If it starts to look tempting the high fat snack is always there.

Don't chew gum so can't help with that.

Welcome back and glad you are with us at ADBB.

        Welcome back Vlado!

Glad you are here to ask questions and get support. You will most certainly find it here.

Now to the lunch question. I sometimes take cheese and pepperoni w/ cut up raw veggies and a low carb dip. (you will need a insulated bag of some sort to keep things cool) Mostly I bring some kind of salad....chicken, tuna, shrimp, egg and have a side of pickles and black olives. Or a side of whatever veggie is in season. I love to kill off leftovers by taking them for lunch also.

Good luck. Glad you have recovered 100%. Hang in and visit often!

Re: Good to be back, now i ask for help

            Welcome back!

When I was working, I brought the exact same lunch every single day and I honestly did not tire of it. I made a chef salad and i made it huge! A big one, with ranch dressing. I also had a separate boiled egg and cheese slices. Also, I included a side dish of leftovers, maybe, or a few lil' smokie sausages. I also had in the same lunch boxes cheese slices for snack and sometimes bacon. This kept me going all day and if I needed a snack, I had enough food to go around.

As I became more acclimated to the plan, I was able to easily cut out the snack and cut back on the eggs and meat. You just eventually find that you are not as hungry after awhile!!

Good thread, though. Any other ideas?

rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
