  • normal weight loss?

I have been on Atkins for 3 1/2 weeks. I have lost 15 pounds. Is this the average weight loss? I have been working out, but mostly with weights. Should I just do cardio? Any ideas would be appreciated. My stomach seems so much more flabbier????

There isn't really an average weight loss. It's more based on each person and your resistance to weight loss. It's in the book. Fifteen pounds sounds really great by the way.
Last time I did induction I lost 12lbs in about a month's time.
    What stage are you on?

'Average weight loss' is an oxymoron. Everyone is different, including identical twins. The worse thing you can do is get hung up on what 'other people' lose.

That said, you tummy probably does seem more flabby. You lost a lot of weight, quickly, and your muscles, emptied fat cells and skin hasn't had time to catch up. When you lose fat, at first the fat cells fill up with fluid for a while, before releasing it after you stay on low carb for a while. It will firm back up as you go along. This is one good reason to lose the weight slowly after the initial big drop during the first month. Even your skin may look lose and more wrinkled at first, but if you drink lots of water and exercise, it will firm back up quite a bit. Completely, if you are young and havent been really obese for a long time.

We tell everyone to expect to lose between 5-10% of the total amount you need to lose during induction. More than that is a gift. Less than that could indicate metabolic resistance (or that you really need to look hard at what you're eating).

        You've done awesome!! Well done!!
