  • New, Excited for Induction, and a couple of ?'s

    Hi Everyone!

My name is Stefanie and I am a First Time Mom who is 9 weeks Post Partum and has 25 pounds to lose. I tried Weight Watchers, on which I had success before, but no luck this time. My family has had great success with Atkins and I am revved up and ready to go!

I am curious about a couple of things and was hoping to get some answers...

    1) Is 0 Carb Blue Cheese Salad Dressing OK?

    2) Does it really work better with NO caffeine? I am a 2 cup a day gal.

    3) Is there such a thing as "too much" red meat during induction?

    4) I walk about 40 minutes a day. Is this enough or should I increase.... note, my c-section cut muscles still hurt like no other when I try aerobics...

Thanks in advance for you help!

Welcome! You're going to love this way of eating and relating to food.

Blue cheese salad dressing is great.

SOME people find that caffeine slows or stalls their weight loss. I have never had that experience. Try it with the coffee, and if you hit a stall at some point after the first two weeks, then you can cut back.

I'm not much of a meat eater, but I don't think there's such a thing as too much red meat in induction. I DO think that after about 3-4 days, you won't feel like eating very much at all, so expect that, and be prepared to make yourself eat anyway.

40 minutes walking a day is good, especially post-partum. If you want to gradually increase, or add weight training as you heal, that will be good, too.

Good luck! Keep posting and reading other people's posts!

If you are breastfeeding, the weight loss phases of Atkins (Induction, On-Going Weight Loss, and Pre-Maintenance) are not recommended according to the book. The Lifetime Maintenance phase, however, is fine for pregnant and nursing women.
