I had 1/2 an avocado on my salad at lunch today for a treat ~ when I plugged my info into fitday, tho, that 1/2 measured in at 6 carbs! That totally blew me out of the water for the daily totals.

I thought a 1/2 avocado was ok on a daily basis? How can that be when it is such a huge chunk of the daily 20??

It shows 6 carbs minus 4 fiber = 2 net carbs

It seriously won't make a big difference. Don't freak.

At least you measured it and you are aware.

I looked at the induction list last night for avocado and couldn't find it. (I love avocado).

I guess it's for later stages?

Or can someone correct me if I'm wrong?

Avocado is fine for induction. It comes under the "special category" foods (see the acceptable induction foods list in the FAQs). You are allowed half a small avocado.

My fitday gives me 5 net carbs for half a Florida avocado.

Avocado is also high in potassium and is great for induction -- helps with leg cramps and the light headedness some folks experience

I forgot about subtracting fiber ~ using fitday, do I just subtract all the fiber for the day from all the carbs for the day?

Florida avocados are HUGE - the one's around here get as big or bigger than grapefruits. The ones from California, South America, etc. are a variety called Hass I think, and are much smaller - like a lemon.
