  • Ketosis...is it harder than I think? sigh...:(

I may be doing something wrong...perhaps it's my soy milk in my coffee...

Yes, I know that I should not be having coffee, and I am sure unsweetened soy milk is not acceptable in the induction phase...

However, doesn't ketosis happen in different ways for every individual?

Maybe I should just erase the soy in total and be hardcore by the book. Is that truly the only way to get into ketosis?

I feel like a ketosis loser as I hear how people get into ketosis from day one, or even day 2.

soy is not allowed until the legumes rung and you already know about the coffee... cant beat addictions without going thru withdrawls!!

use heavy cream instead for your DECAF!

it generally takes 3-5 days to get in to ketosis

      Thanks Emma~

I just have read some crazy stories of people who are doing the so-called modified versions of Atkins, who still drink red wine or eat the Atkins Bars and shakes and still can get into ketosis.

I guess everyone just has to find what works for them right?

Also, I have seen people at the gym who do the modified versions and they look amazing!

You're rite...everyone might be a little different but what you seem to have proven to yourself is that you, like me, are one who has to do it by the book....been here before and just got back in the beginning of August...tried to do it with my beloved coffe by my side...didn't work....stalled the **** out of me....I am now "clean" from coffee for a week and although it sometimes calls to me (wafting out of Dunka Dunka) I look at how I wasted time holding on to it..ALONG with those few exra pounds...not worth it...need to loose this weight!!! ...now I am steadily moving along...you will too!!! I don't suggest cutting caffeine off cold turkey. The headaches are pretty severe. Gradually start adding decaf to your regular coffee. You'll be switched over to decaf in no time! It's MUCH better than doing it all at once. Good luck!

Patrick, when I first tried induction I had no success at all. The next week I decided to start again, and dumped my caffeinated coffee ~ I lost 8 lbs that week.

I don't know our metabolisms are different, but apparently dropping the caf makes a BIG difference for some...I will mourn the loss with you, but it is better to let the caf go and let the lbs go, too!

Soy milk is normally very sweet.
I'm glad you're not giving up. As for the 10-15lbs, you could lose them.

As for the soy milk, I always have had the unsweetened versions...

Yes, there are people who do their own version of Atkins. I've been around ADBB long enough to see these people do Atkins their way. And I've been around ADBB long enough to have seen them post daily about not losing weight, not losing inches, not having energy, not being X, Y, Z. When they are told to do certain things, they swear up and down they are doing everything by the book and Atkins isn't working for them. Sometimes they return several months later and post a nice thread about being back and about doing Atkins by the book because the last time they did it they were eating oatmeal or chocolate candy or drinking Starbuck mocha lattes or whatever without "going over my 20 net carbs daily".

So if you want to do your own thing, that's up to you. But remember, we won't be able to thoroughly help you if something goes wrong, because we base all our answers on Atkins. And if you do choose to do your own thing, don't call it Atkins because you're only misleading others who don't know any better. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I've had defend Atkins countless times to people who think Atkins is eating a pound of bacon, a dozen eggs and a pound of butter daily because "that's what Jane ate when she was on Atkins."

                            good morning not2late~

You are my welcome email this morning, and I agree with you 100%. That is why I am committed to only do "IT" by the book.

You're right, why bother to do it and say one is doing Atkins when they are creating their own "cheating" version so to speak.

I find this board filled with love and heaps of support and that is what makes me want to stay around for a very very long time.

I find that keeping to TRUE Atkins, life is easier and it truly does work.

Thanks for being a stern guide for me, and I hope you'll be there to keep me inspired! please?

When I lose my 10 pounds and make ~160, I will post it here immediately.

By the way, May, 2 of 2003-is that when you started Atkins?

If so, we are bonded now...why ask you? lol....My birthday is MAY 2nd...
