The scale I have been using (one of those machines at the mall that you put your height and age/sex etc in) is broken.

The day that I weighed myself was at 245 a few weeks ago at the mall....the numbers were wrong!!!

I went to my doc earlier this week - weighed 233 - I left the doc tuesday scratching my head thinking...what the heck?

Today, however, the mall read 250 (arrggghhhh) and when I went to the doc for a followup from Tuesday, the scale read 231.

Two totally different numbers - a few hours apart - in the same clothes...

    So, 2 pounds.

That's what I get for a not clean induction.

I'm not really upset, just frustrated lol.

I'll keep up on my measurements tho...and keep doing my induction.

The good - great news is that a few years ago when I tried atkins and I told my doc about it, he told me "NO, it's not good for you - try a low fat/low carb diet"

Today he said that Atkins is being lauded as a great way for a lot of people to get the weight off.

AND my blood pressure, which used to be 140/110
was 126/80 something... so that was great news!!

He is running a lipid panel and the other blood tests to make sure I'm okay while I'm doing this - having the docs support means the world whooo whoooo

Now, about that scale in the mall, it's in a vitamin store and when I asked if it was accurate (didn't think for a second that there was anything wrong with it...duh!) they laughed and said no, it was just there for fun....

    GRRR

And to think that the scale at Bed Bath and Beyond weighed me in at 220 something...
    I like that scale lol

I'll stick with the doctors scale

    so, it's not a 12 lb loss, it's a 2 lb loss
    BUT IT'S A LOSS

I'll keep my chins up anyways - a loss is still a loss and I feel so much better!
    Nothing changes if nothing changes...

This is the day it changes!!!

With atkins its difficult on scale. When I stick to my diet, the best scale is my clothes. I have fat clothes and I have skinny clothes. The more 52 pants I get rid of and the more 46 pants I buy, I know its working.
It frustrating. Rome was not built in a day and Neither is my weight loss.

      Re: Arrggg

I had the same sort of problem with my old scale, it kept acting up. Sometimes I even weighed 23 pounds on it!!

I found a place where it read consistently and kept it there - right in the middle of the hallway, slightly turned at an angle (go figure)

DH got tired of stepping over it, so he bought me a new one. I was so excited, until I stepped on it and BAM! I was right back where I started (after losing six pounds) so I guess I was heavier than I thought!

The new scale is much better and the weight keeps coming off slowly but surely! And I can see I'm looking skinnier

So don't get discouraged! Just keep trucking along and you'll start to notice the change in your body - even if it doesn't show on the scale!

The scale really is bad...I'm even reticent to trust the doctors scales anymore. Before I started Atkins, I weighed in at 285 at the Doctors office. He sent me over to the hospital to talk to a nutritionist. She had the exact same scale as the doctors office had and hers weighed me 15 lbs heavier! One can really never believe the scale in any context. The measuring tape and the fit of your clothes is where the real fence post of progress lies.
