  • Starting on Tue, have a few questions!

I am so excited about starting the program, I have been reading the book but I am confused about a couple of things so I thought I would ask. When you are on the 2 week induction do you just have 3 meals a day with no snacks? I was also wondering if each meal do you get to eat as much protein as you want or do you measure it? I have always been under the impression with this program you could eat all the protien and fats you want, you would just measure everything else.
Sorry if I am asking the same questions but I just want to start this right.

    Thanks
    Niki

You can eaat liberally, but dont overeat....
you must eat every 4-6 waken hours dont worry about a set 3 meals, i think i ate about 5 small meals during induction.

the important thing is you dont overeat, its not a "how much can i eat and still lose weight" plan, you eat until you are satisfied, not full - satisfied.

After induction and you move onto OWL you will need to watch closely the amounts you eat to avoid stalling, excess protein will turn to glucose.

Best of luck on your journey!

Piece of advice, take all your measurements before you start and take pics in as little as possible, it will really keep you going when you lack motivation.

        Another question...

So for dinner I would have a steak and veg, does it have to be a 8oz steak or as much steak as I feel I can eat. I still am confused, a little. I keep reading the book I am sure I will catch on soon, but your help makes it go faster.

No - there is no 'minimum' amount for meat - eat as much of it as you need to feel satisfied. Dr Atkins never gave any amounts for meat and eggs, as he felt our body would limit that by us feeling satisfied before overeating on it.

Try to recognise when your body has had enough and stop eating and put any left away for a later snack if you want it.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Yes... hunger recognition is the key as Emma and Elizellen have said. If it's hard at the beginning... stop eating when you think you should be satisfied and wait around twenty mins. If you're still hungry, eat some more. If not, wait until you're hungry again before eating (unless six hours pass, in which case you'll need something small, to keep your metabolism revved).
            Before and after:

            PLEDGING FLIGHTS
Completed: 1st set of buildings and mountains (Everest,M.Blanc & Kilimanjaro, twice); Tower Masts & Chimneys; More virtual buildings; Challenger's Choice x 2 (volcanos and mountains on Mars). Currently climbing: Mount Snowdon again: 416/475

Start 10 Jan 2005. Maintenance since Aug. 2005.

the first time you start induction, its important to realize your not eating so much at every meal that you are physically sick and stuffed. but there is nothing wrong with having:
breakfast: 4 eggs, piece of bacon or sausage
lunch: tuna fish or chicken salad, with lettuce, cucumber, celery, peppers (check the list).
snack: some roast beef, turkey, cold chicken, 1oz of cheese.
dinner: 16oz steak, or 3 hamburgers, or a 16oz of grilled chicken, some broccolli or other veggies in the list.

Here is a nice wallet sized version of induction list, I keep one in my wallet.
