  • Woke up at 2am hungry-was this a no no?

Yesterday was my first day on induction. I'm also doing the medication Chantix to quit smoking, and am pretty sick with bronchitis/pneumonia. I sleep on an off but awake frequently during the night since becoming sick 4 days ago. Last night at 2 am I woke up hungry and ate my planned slice of sausage quiche for the day which had 3 grams of protein but is said to have 607 calories. Was this a huge no no? Im thinking it was but Im still learning here and not sure if its normal to have hunger pains during the night. I dont even really think it had anything to do with being hungry. I think it was more comfort food and I wanted something hot. If this is a no no, i will try hard to make sure it doesnt happen again.

    If you're hungry, EAT!

dont worry about calories, when you stop losing you can change things about, for now, when hunger strikes eat!

Good luck on the stopping smoking and get well soon!

if you werent hungry however, try to drink water, we get hunger pangs when thirsty too!!

your hunger will subside by about day 3 or 4 and you'll be struggling to eat!

The only times I get hungry in the middle of the night are when I'm pregnant (hasn't happened in 13 years!) or when I'm sick.

And the rule is, if you are hungry.........eat! Even in the middle of the night!

Was this a pre-packaged quiche or did you make it yourself?

I made it myself. Found the recipe off of Linda's Low Carb Menu's and Recipes. It has 6 carbs and just over 600 cals, so i will probably not make alot of this. A chicken breast, cubed, and fried in butter with an oz of mushrooms and two fried eggs made me way happier. Woohoo, got in 32 ounces of water so far.

I have a few "go to" snacks ready and waiting. After four years on Atkins they serve me well. During the week, I make some snacks to keep the hunger at bay between meals and because I find that eating smaller portions throughout the day works best with my metabolism. Some of the things that I consider my "go to snacks" are quiche muffins (although mine or not anywhere near 600 calories), I cook some hard boiled eggs, I keep some celery and cream cheese in the refrigerator, I cook up chicken wings (husband likes those, too!), I have sliced turkey or chicken and have a roll up with some cheese or avocado. These may not be your favorite snacks and you may find that a small snack serves you as well as a 600 calorie snack if that remains a concern.

            Best wishes.
