  • My experience with induction and Diet Coke

I tried induction for 1 month and actually gained weight! I didn't know what i was doing wrong because i had limited my daily carb intake to under 20 grams. Then i read on this board that artificial sweeteners and caffeine could stall weight loss. Throughout induction, i drank 5 to 6 diet cokes a day.
So, I gave up diet coke and caffeine totally for the last two weeks, again on strict induction, and have lost 9lbs!!!
The main thing i noticed this induction was that i had much less appetite to eat in large quantities, unlike my initial attempt at induction.
My only question remaining is, I wonder if I can drink regular coffee and lose weight, while leaving out the artificially sweetened diet coke?
thanks to this board i didn't give up!

It all depends whether it was the artificial sweetener or the caffeine in the diet coke that caused you the previous problems.
Caffeine is one of those YMMV (your mileage may vary) things, so the only way to know if your body reacts badly to caffeine is to see what happens if you reintroduce it.
One of the different aspects of Atkins as compared to other weightloss regimes is that we learn how our body reacts to different foods and if we watch these reactions we can gain great insight into what foods we can and cant have and lose weight.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
