  • So many vegetables?!

    Hello, newbie here

    Having done my research before undertaking this way of eating, I must say I am surprised at the amount of vegetables allowed.

    I had always had the impression that the vegetable quantity was quite low ie. maybe one tomatoe a day, or a few slices of cucumber.

    But now, having learnt more about this way of eating, I am delighted with how many vegetables you can eat taking into account the net carbs of the weighed veggies!

    For example: veggie wise y/day I had 2 cups of cauliflower, 1/2 courgette, 6 mushrooms, spinach - Yummy!

    Please tell me I am reading the info right!

    isnt it GREAT to be able to eat so many Veggies and LOSE? im having a Ball...!

        yep, your info is right, as long as you stick to your 3 cups during induction.
        OWL is even better, I'm now easily eating 20 net carbs of veggies a day and love it
        Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

            not quite, Heidi most of your vegetables are on the 'one-cup' vegetable list (in USA courgettes are known as zucchini). So you can have one cup from that list plus 2 cups from the other 'salad vegetables' list which includes mushrooms.

            If you dont have your DANDR handy you will find a list of all the veggies on each list in our FAQ forum in the 'what foods can I eat on induction' thread. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=6781

            Once you have finished your first 14 days on induction you can start on OWL rung 1 and add another 5 net carbs of these veggies, which could mean an extra 2 cups of cauliflower!

              Are you from our side of the pond - I noticed you eat courgettes like me, not zucchini!!

                Dr. Atkins wrote that half of our daily carbs should come from vegetables.
