Okay, I went to Wal-Mart yesterday to stock up on items needed for induction. I came out of the store very frustrated and ready to give up. I bet I spent a half hour reading labels on bacon, ham, sausage, and salad dressings looking for ones without sugar or dextrose and without nitrates. I found one package of bacon...Low sodium Jimmy Dean bacon that had the last ingredient as nitrates. Can any of you help me out with some brand names of what you eat? It would be greatly appreciated! I don't want to give up before I even get started.

Re: I need help with brand names please
Hi g/f...I searched the posts but couldn't find anything on sugar free ham brands nor for the sausage. Someone else might be able to help you on this one, or you can just ask the butcher which hams or sausage they have are sugar free.
Here are some posts regarding sugar free and or nitrate free bacon brands.
Re: bacon without nitrates?
I just came from wal-mart and they carry Hormel natural choice bacon...no nitrates...they also make roast beef, ham, and turkey lunch meats with no nitrates. So just call some local stores and ask if they carry them.

Gwaltney Bacon with no sugar added. It does have nitrates, but it only costs me $2.59 and it is very delicious.

I found Primrose Bacon to be sugar free and lower sodium. It tastes delicious! It was at my Super Wal-Mart.
