  • 5 days & ONLY 1lb down...

    Hi guys,

I am feeling very down. 5 days on the induction and only 1lb down. I might be eating too many of the allowed veggies, but since no bread etc, i thought i would lose more.

    Please help..

In times like this is normal to ask you to post a couple of days worth of your food intake. Would you mind doing that? Just list everything that you have eaten and drank over the last couple of days would be great.

        It's only been 5 days!!!

        Induction is not a 5 day process. It's a 14 day process.

STAY OFF THE SCALE FOR ANOTHER 11 DAYS, especially if it rattles you like this.

You do realize that with 42lbs to lose you should be looking for a loss of 2.1-4.2lbs during induction, right? Anything less than that would indicate metabolic resistance and anything more than that is a gift.

don't get discouraged. once you are through the two weeks , you will feel better.
saturday my buddy said to me at 10pm, We did not eat dinner.
So that means I forgot to eat dinner saturday.
Trust me , that never happened before Atkins.

I think it's good that you didn't gain any weight! A lot of people stop because the weight loss is too slow. If you are a slow looser, you'll have to be patient and deal with the idea that it might take you longer than some of the other people. In addition, you're not that big so your weight loss is going to be slower and require more patience. When someone is 100+ lbs. overweight, then they often, but not always, loose the initial weight pretty fast. I figure that at least you are not gaining weight and one pound a week or 4-5 lbs a month will add up quickly. For example, if you can maintain that idea, you'll reach your goal in around 10 months. That kind of slow loss is good.

You might want to talk to your doctor about your diet. Are you taking any medicine that could be interfering with your weight loss, etc.

                  Re: 5 days & ONLY 1lb down...

Again, induction is a 14 day process. 1.2lbs every 5 days would average out to being just under 2lbs a week - and 2-3lbs a week is the recommended weight loss for EVERYONE.

Seriously- if that's all it takes to shake you, stay off the scale. You didn't put the weight on overnight, it's not going to come off that way either. You aren't far enough into this to have any real idea or clue so far as how your body is going to react and know what kind of losses you can expect.

If you haven't already, take your measurements. Put in your 14 days doing a clean induction (your menu looks great, btw), measure and weigh in and THEN figure out what the deal is. Doing so before then is just an exercise in frustration with too little information and therefore counter productive.

Besides, what are you going to get out of this or anything else if you quit when it gets difficult? You'll be in the same or similar boat without the knowledge and reassurance that you put in the work to do what needs to be done.

Hang in there. You've barely just begun.
