  • whats wrong with me?

I just cant seem to stick to the induction! I did it for four days and that was the maximum! I have this really terrible habbit of picking at food at night which i know i need to stop. The more depressed i get about how much weight i gained after being anorexic, the more i seem to stray off track. I feel so hopeless and hate life at the moment...

hayhay, don't beat yourself up, it only starts the spiral downward of depression.
Do the best you can right now and don't worry about the past.
And always remember what Tabekat says:
So if you cheat, be accountable, skip the guilt, and find empowerment by returning to induction with your very next bite.

          Re: whats wrong with me?

Hi HayHay. Glad you've posted and looking for solutions to your problem.

The best advice I can give is to have LEGAL choices available so that if you do munch...your not eating the wrong things.

Secondly, what do you do at night that causes you to want to snack? Changing your routine will help eliminate the habit that you have to eat while you are doing it. If you watch tv, you could sit on the floor and do exercises or walk in place while you watch it. If you have a comfortable chair that you've always sat in and snacked...start sitting somewhere else in the evening. Make a list of what causes you to lose control and change it. Write out a list of reasons you want to succeed. Make post-its of quotes or phrases that motivate you. Post photos of yourself at a certain weight you want to be/or of someone whose weight you'd like to be. Have alternative plans such as coming into ADBB or calling a friend for support when the urge hits you. You can do this. Make a plan to succeed and don't let anything or anyone take that dream away.
          -----------------------------------------------
Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture... Do not build up obstacles in your imagination.

Plant the seeds of expectation in your mind; cultivate thoughts that anticipate achievement. Believe in yourself as being capable of overcoming all obstacles and weaknesses

            Re: whats wrong with me?

hayhay I am right with you. I just posted about how I was so disappointed in myself and can't stop eating junk foods. The more I think about how I should stop, the more I convince myself that I should just gorge on it today and "get it out of my system" to start fresh tomorrow. And tomorrow never comes. It's easy to give advice, but I find myself just in need of a buddy. Don't beat yourself up, we can do this the right way
I would rather struggle to do this, than struggle with the fact that I can't...

Just prepare or have handy a bunch of legal foods to "pick at" each evening. Enjoy it!

              Ideas?

              devilled eggs
deep fried kale (just like popcorn)
              sugar-free jello with whipped cream
              pepperoni
              string cheese
              Start date: 7/29/2007

              Scale: SW:235 CW:193
              GW:150

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

              Mini goals:
              215 - met 9/10/07
              205 - met 10/17/07
              195 - met 2/20/08
              180

You are right - Dr Atkins did not say that 'sugarfree jello' was induction-legal!
What he did say was that a dessert made with unsweetened gelatine and a 'legal' sweetener like splenda or one of the others on the list is OK as an occasional inclusion in our menu!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
