If you're not burning fat for energy - it's not ketosis - at least for that time. Yes, you snap right back to it assuming you didn't get drunk and stupid enough to suck down something extremely carby (Hello Jag-Bomb/meal at Perkins after bar to soak up the booze. ) to knock you out for longer.

Really though, it's just semantics. Bottom line is that it's a very high calorie endeavor that lowers people's ability to make solid decisions and it's waayyyyyyyy too easy to over-do it. It's a dietary set back no matter how you slice it or dice it.

    Fair enough?

If I was you, I would just wake up the next morning, eat some eggs for breakfast and then go on with your normal atkin's induction diet or OWL diet. You will probably be in ketosis still, unless you haven't burned up the alcohol. Once the alcohol is used up, you'll continue to be in ketosis and burning fat as long as you keep your carbs around 20g a day.

I would just be careful about binging on high carb foods after you drink. It happens to me as my willpower fades and the slumber of alcohol sets in! I conquered this by keeping wings around the house, if I know I'm going to drink. Nothing kills alcohol induced hunger like butter/garlic wings.
