Hi all
I'm new to this board, but not to Atkins. I, like most here, have been on every diet known to mankind. I'm 41, 5'3" and right now I'm 142-144. At my highest (and not pregnant) I was about 160. I'd like to lose about 20 more pounds. After struggling to get under the 140 mark with a low fat diet, I decided about a month ago that I would try to limit my carbs. I did the South Beach Diet for a couple of weeks, and noticed after the first few yucky days, my brain fog started to clear and I had more energy. But I was still struggling with hunger and cravings. That's when I bought DANDR and read it with an open mind. I started to add more fat, and take away some of the carbs not allowed on induction. I noticed that the fat seemed to take care of my almost constant hunger.
I started induction after that, and have yet to succeed with a clean 2 weeks. The first time around I fell off the wagon after going too long without a meal or snack. Last week, I made it Sunday through Thursday clean, but then Friday hit and I lost it again. My cravings were pretty much gone, so I'm pretty sure it's the emotional eating that I'm dealing with right now. After eating a couple of days non low carb, I feel like total crap again....I would say worse than before I started. I was headachy and just feeling blah all day yesterday. I have decided to re-commit myself and really do a 2 week clean induction starting on Monday. I will shop today and plan to make sure I have everything I need and throw away any foods that are going to be too hard for me to resist.
Intellectually, I know that I feel better eating this way, but I can convince myself of anything when I want to 'cheat'. Somehow I have to overcome this, because it's my biggest obstacle.
I'm glad I found this board. I'm going to explore here a bit, but if anyone has any suggestions or tools that helped them through induction, I'd love to hear them.
Thanks!
Kathy
