Which to believe: book or label?

    Hello,

I just started the Atkins diet a few days ago and am glad I did.

I'm a bit confused about finding the true number of carbs in a particular product. Sometimes the carbs listed in the Atkins and Net Carb book are different than what is on the manufacturer's label.

Which number should I go by, book or label?

I would go by the label assuming the manufacturer would know more about the product. If there are more carbs listed on thelable I would look for hidden sugar.

label! always the label! different brands have different counts!

remember if you are in the US you need to subtract the fibre from the carbs amount to get the "net carb"

I have run into this same situation and agree that it is always the label that is right. There are so many different products these days and the book/online carb counts seem to be rather generic figures. I can't imagine how thick a book would have to be to name all the brands and their counts. lol...

Thank you. I'm finding how difficult it is to find products in the market that do not contain sugar. I've started buying organic meat and produce. The Atkins diet is certainly an eye-opener!

always steer away from the "good for you" stuff, anything that states "low fat" will more than likely be full of sugar instead, always aim for full fat.
