  • Day 14 and blew it...again

So I did 14 days of induction and to be honest, I did exactly what I have done so many times before. I started out strong (on a Monday), doing a very clean induction. By friday I was down 5 pounds. Then the first weekend hit and I had a couple of glasses of wine both friday and saturday but everything else was fine. Come Monday I was still down 5 pounds. Going into the second week I started to have too WAY too much cheese. Then on Thursday I had a large handfull of my daughters wheat crackers. On friday I had a turkey burger for lunch that was made with bread crumbs (why did I do this? I don't know). That afternoon I had several handfulls of Pirates Booty when I was at my friends house for a playdate for my daughter. Friday night I drank wine. Saturday afternoon my husband and I were going to a 5:30 movie and I planned on having an appropriate snack before leaving the house. I didn't and at the movie theater I had a whole POPCORN (small with butter). After that, several glasses of wine with my induction friendly dinner. Yesterday, Sunday, I was clean again but, of course, my weight is essentially back to where I started.

Like I said, this is EXACTLY the same thing I have done probably 20 times before. Anyone have any tid-bits of advice or insight that can help me? I am fighting back the tears...I know I only have myself to blame...

    not really any advice no...

if you really want this, you will do it, you just arent motivated enough so you need to work out what you want more, the wine and handfuls of things that you keep having or your weight loss...

go over to before and after pics, its very inspiring!

Just remember to jump right back on the wagon.
Yesterday is gone. Today is the day you have.
I was bad too this weekend, it happens.

oh you really blew it didnt you? Don't Fret just get back on that wagon extend your induction, beef up your exercise and keep going.

It helps to have a goal for when you reach your goal weight and to have something that keeps your goals right in your face. I bought a brand new pair of Victoria's Secret Silk Pajamas and I hung them right up on the wall so when I wake up each morning I see them first thing. I ordered them 2 sizes too small... I know when I fit into them or they get loose I get a spa day, complete with facial, maincure, pedicure, massage, body wrap, and a body exfoliating treatment, plus I can get my hair done. I figure I will not wear those jammies until I come home from the Spa. That is something I've always wanted to do... and its a reward. You need to find what works for you.

A hint to help you fight those cravings when you go out is to carry a little string cheese or rolled up meat with you when you go out.... and LOTS OF WATER. It also helps if you eat something before you leave that way you are not starving when you get to the persons house and they offer you illegal foods... Its easier to say no thanks.

Don't cry.. just remember there is a thin person inside you screaming to get out... plus you are smaller than me to begin with! Good luck! PM me if you need anything more!

You have to sit down and be honest with yourself. From what you have written, you have made conscious decisions about going off plan here and there. It's one thing to eat a meatloaf at a restaurant or a friend's home and later find out it was made with breadcrumbs, but to eat a burger with breadcrumbs that you made yourself is totally different.

So sit down with yourself. And be honest. There is something in yourself that is causing you to sabotage yourself. Write down your goals, why you deserve to achieve them and how you will do it.

There's no doubt this is hard... really hard. I know it has been a struggle at times for me as well (check the post I'm about to make), but I keep trying to focus on the end product - a healthier me. You are not a failure. Your body did not form 5 lbs of fat in a day.... that weight is just water weight - the first weight you lost, and the first you put back on. Now, you're back reading these forums for a reason.... I think it is because you want to do this. If that's the case, focus your energy on digging your heels in and resolve to make this change in your life. Starting now.

Thank you all for your thoughts. I joined this board so that I could be honest so hear goes.

I think that I give in because a part of me (irrational and childish) wants to believe that I can find a way to get the weight off without having to sacrifice everything I enjoy. Life has been really really tough for me in many ways over the past 5 years. It is almost as if I don't have the strengh left to do all of the hard work to lose the weight. Of course, actually doing the hard work and getting to my goal would give me exactly the feeling of control over my life that I need.

I'm not saying this to rationalize! I'm making myself be honest in order to face my problem and push through it.

albs75, being honest with yourself is a very big step.
                Congrats.
Everyone on the board is here to support you.
We know you can do it, because we did it and we had a lot failures and false starts.
                Its going to get better.
I know atkins works for me, and I am the first to tell you , I have no will power, eventually I just wanted not to eat pasta, pizza, fries, I miss it, but I feel better now.
And once you get that momentum going you won't believe what you can do.
I rollerbladed for 6 miles yesterday and I fell 3 times, but I got up , you can get up from your failures and succeed, I know because I did.
