  • HELP...keep me accountable

I have been on Atkins (if that is what you call it) for several weeks now. I have lost about 5 pounds so far and it would be more but I can't seem to do everything I am supposed to do! I can't get through a clean induction to save my life! I do well for almost the whole time then I let something come between me and what I am trying to accomplish. This time, Friday a was my birthday...they got me cake at work...I ate a small piece...then later that night I had 2 pieces of garlic bread! I am back on plan now....but I still have issues drinking my water, etc. Please encourage me!!

    Alright.....you asked for it!

    1. Change the "I can't" statements into "I will" statements. Those things are self fullfilling prophecies.

    2. Start a journal in the Journal Chats section and also one in the Journal Stats section. They will help keep you accountable and tons of incredible folks will come through and or as needed.

    3. If you don't have an account at Fitday.com- get one and use it!!

And most of all.... be kind to yourself. You're doing something truly awesome for your body, your mind, your health, your life!!

To add to the fantastic advice Brook gave you....You need to have a very serious talk with yourself.

Write out how much weight you need to lose. Why you want to lose the weight...then how it will improve your life to lose the weight. Read this everyday, Read it 2 x a day or 3 x a day. However many times it takes to make you really want it to happen.

Give yourself positive thoughts, positive actions and positive support. You can do it. You have to want to do it and be willing to do what it takes to make it happen. Don't make excuses, make plans to achieve your goal.

Changing your life-style is not easy, but it is possible. Take baby-steps and keep a positive attitude which will make the new choices you are making enjoyable. Don't feel deprived about your new way of life, but feel blessed that you have found the tool that can help you achieve your goal. Then work that plan ~ and it will happen. I understand ... but I do know you can do it.

Yes..what brook said. Also log in everyday, even if its just to report on the food you have eaten, to ask for support, or to report a weight loss.

            Re: HELP...keep me accountable

I'm a really big fan of writing down goals. I do it for personal stuff, work, whatever. It sounds silly to some...but I am telling you, it works! When you write it down EVERY DAY and then say it out loud to yourself, you start to internalize it and then you start to live in a way that will make your goal a reality. A side benefit is that it's a proven fact that people who take the time to write specific goals and a plan to achieve them are more successful than those who don't.

Thanks! I am trying to make some goals now. Speaking of goals, I have met my first weight goal which feels good. I think I need so non scale goals as well.

well we all know the birthday cake didn't count, so you only need to chastise yourself for the garlic bread, LOL! Happy Birthday, BTW!!!

Don't be too hard on yourself ~ if you slip a little, it is not the end of the world. Just don't let it be the excuse to quit entirely. Get up, get back on the path, and keep walking ~ you'll get there, I promise.

Setting non weight goals is a great idea. The scale doesn't always tell the whole story and it can drive you to the brink of insanity besides.
