  • Am i exercising too much?

Hi, i'm a second time arounder i guess. Well, i've started induction about 5 days ago, and i've only eaten meat!, which mean no carbs...i think i ate mozerella one of those days but not much.

Anways, while on induction i've been doing the slim in 6 work out (burn it up, and hour workout) every day, and i walk around alot. My legs are aching right now because of all the squats..anyways am i exercising too much while on induction?...i don't have a scale because last time i had a scale it discouraged me..so i threw it away..but i've been real working hard and i can't see the results on my body..am i working out too much?

Why are you only eating meat?

During Induction we are to eat no more than 20 net carbohydrates a day: that doesn't mean we eat no carbs. We get the majority of our carbs from the vegetables listed in the book.

Right now, I think exercising is the least of your worries. You should be more concerned about doing Atkins properly.

      First off, I ditto Megs.

You have to eat your veggies if you are wanting to do Atkins properly.

However, to answer your question, I do not think that you are doing too much (BUT keep in mind every person is different). We are supposed to get a minimum of 30 minutes in each day. You may want to take a rest day from exercising each week. A suggestion I have read, is to take a slow, short walk on the "break" day.

      Hope this helps.

Re: Am i exercising too much?

BIU is a *nasty* workout. I've got tons of BIU time under my belt.

If BIU is what you're doing you definitely need to heed the following- and take it seriously because you are *not* doing yourself any good.

        1. Like Megs said - do Atkins right. Eating only protein will not do your body or metabolism any favors. There are no short cuts, so stop trying. Eat right. Doing BIU it's essential that you are getting great nutrition. Eat your veggies.

        2. Supplements. Take them. This is non-negotiable. If you want your body to get healthier and stronger, you need to supplement.

        3. You need 1 day off a week- so take it. BIU doesn't allow squat for re-coup time, but it does *require* that one day.

It's not a great idea to take two programs that were written with tons of research and clinical studies and then toss them out the window and do them the way you want to do them. You're going to wind up doing more damage than good.

You can absolutely knock out BIU during induction. Lots of us here have done it, but you need to be doing Induction.

Do Induction right. Take supplements. Give yourself one day off a week for your muscles to recoup a little.

Re: Am i exercising too much?

I ditto all of what was said above, Get the book and read it. I have to assume you have not done that because what you describe is so far off the mark. Atkins is a moderate protein/low carb/high fat diet. You are eating a high protein/near zero carb/moderate fat diet. You are on a diet, but it isn't Atkins.

Then start induction because you have not been doing induction so far.
