  • Spaghetti Squash and feeling guilty!

Hi~ I am on day 12 of Induction and I feel so in control of my life simply because I have not cheated once, I have incredible energy, and my jeans feel great! I just ate 1/2 cup of spaghetti squash that I baked with butter and it was soooo good that I can not believe that it is allowed! It is ok right?!? I can imagine it blended with cream cheese and the thought is pure delight! Just tell me it is really ok... it IS on the LIST!!!! Thanks.. Never done a bulletin board before so I am excited for the support!!! I am so inspired by all of the stories I have read. Thanks for sharing. bijouxkc

Yes spaghetti squash is legal and in fact you can have a full cup if you want to count it as your full one cup serving of "other veggies"

    Enjoy!

Now I don't like Spaghetti squash with Parmesan cheese.. What I like to do is make it like Spaghetti with tomato sauce and hamburger and mix it up really good and put it in a pan and put cheese on top and bake it.. My kids PIG out on it too.. So anything My picky kids will eat is a good thing..

Re: Spaghetti Squash and feeling guilty!

Thank you so much for all of your responses. I would love to try the spaghetti squash with tomato sauce and cheese, but I plan on staying in induction extended, so I am not allowed tomato sauce, or am I? I am so stuck opn JUST protein and occasionally lettuce since I am doing so well with the diet, that I am afraid to branch out. This is day 13. I will try the recipe for the squash with pamesean cheese. At what point can I add the tomato sauce and hamburger?... Thank you for your responses... You ladies are looking so beautiful... Even though it's a veggie native to America, according to Wikipedia it's available in the UK as spaghetti marrow.

I gave spaghetti squash a twirl this week ~ it tastes good but it sure does have a lot of carbs! FitDay calculates it as 12 net carbs in a cup ~ I don't eat 12 net carbs in my entire lunch!

One cup cooked spaghetti squash has 10g carbs with 2.2g fiber for a total of 7.8 net carbs. (per Fitday)

You NEED to eat vegetables. Atkins is low-carb, NOT no-carb. Veggies provide water, fiber, and nutrients that are crucial and non-negotiable. In fact, too much protein can cause constipation, and an excess of protein converts to glucose which ultimately converts to fat. If you're not eating veggies, you're NOT doing Atkins!

You should be eating 3 cups of veggies per day. You can eat 3 cups of veggies from the salad list, or 2 cups from the salad list and 1 cup of "other" veggies. If you haven't done so already, read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 edition) and check out the induction stickies in the FAQ forum. I wish you the best of success...and you will be successful and be able to maintain your losses if you do everything by the book.
