  • Mayonnaise

Hi. I live in the UK, anyone know which brand of mayo I should buy from Tescos or Asda as that is where I do most of my shopping. I have looked in Morrisons and all the mayo I looked at was high in carbs. The only one that wasn't had added sugar.

do you have a Lidl near you? The mayo I buy from Lidl has only 0.9 carbs per 100 grams!

I second the Lidl mayo, it's very nice and very cheap too.

As a special treat Lidl at the moment have these seafood skewers that are just delish and very low carb. Really handy for the freezer, as they can be cooked from frozen in less than 5 minutes for a quick meal/snack.

              I love Lidl.

Emma you are missing out on some good food and saving quite a lot of money. Some stuff is crap, but a lot is really, really good. Veg is a biggie - good selection, great prices. Also good bacon, cheese, fab nuts, cream, mascarpone. Some of the meat is a bit ho-hum, some is great, including the pork chops, turkey breast and chicken legs. And the frozen lamb chops are good too. I hate their minced beef though, funny taste. Cold meats, salami etc are also excellent buys. They have a very good no-sugar tomato juice in a carton also.

A shopping basket filled with that sort of stuff costs nearly half what it would do in Tesco.

Avoid on Mondays and Thursdays if possible - the day the new specials arrive - as checkout queues can be awful. I also find that just before and just after school closing times is bad too.

hmmmm, maybe i should try it, it always resembles a car boot sale to me, tomato juice sounds like a nice change though.

                      Re: Mayonnaise

The tomato juice is like passata - it's intended for cooking.

It is a bit car boot saleish, but you get used to that.

I often tend to spell in American and say zucchini and eggplant - in deference to the majority here and on other boards.
