  • Anyone else starting Monday 10/29?

    Hi!
Here I go! I'm excited to begin after reading several posts over the last few days. You all inspire me so much.
I'm a 41 year old Mom of a 4 1/2yr old boy and wife to a great husband. I consider myself a very blessed woman. My struggle is and has been my weight, I dont seem to be able to find victory in this area and its very frustrating. ALthough I am VERY active and outgoing I know there is more inside me waiting to come out as there are a few things I hold myself back from because of my insecurity with this 30lbs sitting on my belly. I dont hold my weight everywhere its mainly in my belly, looks real attractive . I also know holding the weight here is a dangerous, heart disease and diabetes is all about this area...I'm not going to be that person in the future.
I know this week will be rough, however I will find inspiration from all of your post on a daily basis! Looking forward to this new beginning! I'm alwasy looking for accountability, if your beginning today as well let me know or just looking for accountablity, I'm your gal!

Thank you so much for taking a moment to welcome me. I'm looking forward to seeing the same successes that everyone else on the boards has had. In your experience is it unrealistic to try and lose 20lbs by Christmas? That may be pushing it a bit.

Re: Anyone else starting Monday 10/29?

Hi! I am also starting (well, re-re-re starting) today. I would love to keep in touch and be an encouragement and accountability for each other through induction!

I have about 60 pounds to lose. Over the past couple years, I have gained about 10 pounds a year. It probably didn't help that I met my (now) husband, and we let each other slip, and celebrate all the relationship weight. Well now that the wedding is over, and we are settling into real life, it isn't any fun to have all this weight.

So...I am making the decision to follow through with the promises I have made to myself this time. My main mini-goal for induction is to only drink water, no other drinks. When I did Atkins before, I allowed myself regular breves and diet pop. I really want to break my sweets addiction now, not just tame it.

So, good luck!! And check in regularly, and we can share recipies. You can do it!!

Re: Anyone else starting Monday 10/29?

Welcome to the board Reese and welcome to Atkins ......... It sounds like you have a terrific attitude adn you certainly have come to the right place to get the information, motivation and encouragement you are looking for. If you follow the plan and take the information from the book as well as the experts here and start moving your body you will be amazed not only at the weight loss you will see but also at how much better you feel in general. I would encourage you not to look to the Atkins Diet as a way to drop 30 pounds but as a way to change your life and as a lifestyle not a diet. It makes a huge difference when you come at it with all the right perspective. If you have not all ready done so please head out and get the book and begin reading. It will become your best friend and answer many many question you will ahve along the way.

You asked specifically about if it was possible to drop 20 lbs by Christmas ........... as we say alot around here it's hard to say because so much is about the individual. You have 7 weeks and are looking for a 20 lb drop. Thats an average of 3 lbs a week which is a lot ......... not initially you will drop a good percentage right off the bat but then things will slow down and you will have to work harder because you don't have a lot to lose. But whatever you do Keep on keeping on and before you begin take all your measurements ......... there will come in the future some times when you just feel like the scale will not move and seeing a difference in inches will be your salvation .........

Enjoy the ride and make lots of great pals along the way!

          God bless

Hey I started yesterday as well. Yesterday was pretty easy sailing but this afternoon things got a little rough and I almost broke down...but yay me I kept going! I CAN do this! I have 40 pounds to drop. I would like to have it all gone by the first of May but have given myself until the first of June to do it!

Welcome Luvshorses and Amamady to our ADBB family I am sure that keeping in touch with each other over the 14 days induction period will really help and encourage you all to stick to it and start to become losers!

I am glad to see 'goals' being set like drinking water and fooling that darned old sugarmonster too! This kind of goal is one we can have control over by our own efforst unlike weightloss of a cetrain number of pounds by a certain time, so it a far more realisable goal to aim for

Though of course I wish you all the best of luck in reaching your weightloss goals too our own body is the thing that decides how that will happen rather than our dedication to the way of eating (WOE), so try not to set yourselves up for possible disappointment by being too hung up on dates/pounds lost.

As Heidi said, we need to hang on even if the scales are being unkind and take measurements too as an extra way of seeing how we are progressing.

How are things going Mom2Ryan? We are on day 3 now...Halloween...sooooo many treats...but I have not fallen off the wagon yet! Although I am probably eating more cheese than I should but I LOVE cheese! I can't believe I have made it three days...woo hoo...last time I quit the morning of day 3 because I felt so aweful. I don't feel bad this time around...just a little tired and hopefully that will go away soon.

Re: Anyone else starting Monday 10/29?

Hi , I am also starting on the 29th, my second time around as well. So far so good , the first day my tummy wasn't feeling so good but i was trying to start back to drinking all the water. I drink water all the time but have not been drinking so much. I feel sure it is so important to drink at least that 64 oz of water. I know the plan works, but i find i do get bored eating the same stuff for breakfast, i usually eat strawberry or blueberry oatmeal every morn with coffee. I really miss my oatmeal. Eggs are getting old because i keep deviled eggs as well for snack. But i Have TO Do this!!!!!!! I will do this. Good luck to all!

Re: Anyone else starting Monday 10/29?

Well done on getting your water in

BTW - I have never eaten eggs for breakfast in the 4 years I have been Atkineering!

Today I had a couple of ham/cream cheese rollups with some cherry tomatoes and a raw mushroom.

If 'traditional' breakfast foods are getting boring you can eat anything else you fancy - any 'legal' induction food is OK not just eggs!

                      Hi,

I am starting today and I knew I would need some encouragement first thing this morning and this is just the place.

You sound like you are doing great after 3 days. I hope I can make it three days. I boiled eggs last night for snacks.

I hope to get to know you all through this process.

                      Have a great day,

Re: Anyone else starting Monday 10/29?

You have come to the right place for support! I am on day four, and beginning to feel great. Had pretty bad induction flu the last couple days, but have been drinking 100 oz + of water, and it has gotten easier.

I also did atkins a few years ago, and didn't stick to it. Not beause it was too hard, or I wanted to cheat, but because I ended up working a summer job that only offered cafeteria food, and I couldn't make it work (noodles with parm. cheese, and lasagna as the only options.)

Anyway, that was then. Now, I have complete control over what goes in my mouth, and I already feel smaller. I am only weighing once a week, so I haven't seen my number progress yet, but still feel determined. All the leftover Halloween candy came to work with me today, and it is sitting in a bowl by the front desk. I haven't touched it, and it hasn't even been hard.

Keep up the good work, you can do this!!

I have been so very proud of myself. I never stick with any kind of diet. I have stuck with this almost completely...the only thing is I am eating a lot of cheese and also eating 0 carb Jello. I needed to feel like I was eating something sweet so the Jello does that for me. I will weigh on Monday morning and hope I am down some. The only thing that is driving me crazy is drinking all this water and going to the washroom 20 times a day! But I can live with that if it means losing weight!
