Aaaaaargh I just had an interview for an on-campus research position.
The professor interviewing me wanted to do it over dinner, specifically the tea house dinner that the Chinese Cultural Society was hosting.
Enter buffet: noodles, rice, mooshoo pork (i.e. noodles and teeny little bits of pork) and chicken and broccoli in sweet and sour sauce.
I took a small portion of chicken and brocoli and was able to pour off almost all the excess sauce onto another plate and throw it out, but I'm sure that there was sugar in the sauce. I ate as little as I could without being awkward....he did ask me one time if I was enjoying the food, as most of it was still on my plate, so I ate more....ergh.
I went home and had a salad, but I feel kind of gross, so I think it's my body reacting to the sugar....grrrr.
On the plus side, I think I got the job, because the interview went really well. Wish I'd had the guts to suggest another place for dinner, but I was afraid of offending him--he's one of THE foremost people in the field right now (hippocampal neurogenesis in adult mammals).
Anyway, just had to vent, sorry! Guess I'm going to the gym extra tomorrow....
