  • How Many Times Can One Fail ?? (New Again)

So maybe it's will power. Maybe discipline....Regardless the factor - the problem still exists.

This is my upteenth millionth time on here. Every past journey has failed - I have failed it. So maybe this is the one time I don't screw up and or give up ??

My past efforts were terrorized by Depression and Life. My life is a little on track now and alot more smooth. So here it goes : )

I am almost 29, and have been BIG all of my life. I have never seen a size below 18/20/22 !! YUCK. I have 2 small children (ages 6 and 2) so I need to finally do this. I need to be the active Mom and fit Mom. My Husband just started an Over the Road Career in truck driving. SO I HAVE NOTHING BUT TIME !!!

I just started induction this morning. And walked 2 miles after dropping my son off at school. I'v NEVER walked before. EVER. So I think I may finally be grabbing the Bull by the horns.

I do know that this site is a MUST have when trying to do this. I have met so many helpful and supportive people on here.

I AM AT MY BIGGEST SIZE AND WEIGHT EVER, and I hate it. I weighed in at 286 lbs. and am wearing size 24/26.

I will take it day by day. I need to work on the WILL POWER & DISCIPLINE !!!
Good Luck to All ! And Best Wishes.

In addition to discipline, you need to sit down and be honest with yourself. Figure out why you fell off the previous times. You can have support here, but in the end it all comes down to you and how badly you want to lose weight.

    Good luck to you.

I also fail other diets and retry over and over, so I know how you feel. But yea learn from your past mistakes, and go on. I'm also new to this diet, so good luck to you.

Re: How Many Times Can One Fail ?? (New Again)

Hi Sabrina. Well, all that is behind you. Don't think of the failures of the past, you are here now and you have the best support system on the planet. Make lots of friends here, be persistant and measure!!

Write out the reasons that you usually quit and make alternative things to do. Don't think about the 'big picture'...(I had 145 to lose when I began) think of it in 10 pound increments (baby steps).

Don't look back, look forward to the future at the size you want to be. Its not easy to change habits - for every negative habit you have had in the past form a new habit to take its place. It isn't a race, take your time and make taking care of yourself your 1st priority. Once you see the results and become comfortable with the WOE, exercise and positive thinking, you'll be amazed at how good you feel, the inches falling off and the good attitude that you'll have about yourself and your life.

Get active here, share your goals and let your friends here help you stay positive and form a plan to make it happen. You can do it...We're here for you! Welcome!!!
            Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

Re: How Many Times Can One Fail ?? (New Again)

              Well Sabrina,
I am in the same boat that you are in! I have a 1 Year old and i am a stay at home mommy who has to watch how much money i spend, when i can hop in the car and go somewhere because we are barely making it money wise so i never have gas money, so i sit at home all day and play with my son. I know what you are feeling because only 3 years ago i was 135lbs which i was in a size 6 from american eagle, and now im in a 16! Which you may think isnt that awful but im only 5'4. I have decided that i am ready to sit down and do whatever it takes to lose weight! I loove Linda's Menu layout web site, she has so many ideas and i honestly think that my hubby will eat what i have to. Im hoping to lose at least 2 dress sizes by x-mas which is pretty doable for me since i do seem to lose fast. I just want to feel good about myself and feel comfortable having my picture taken. i havent had a picture of my son and i together since the day he was born and i feel awful about it but i cant stand to look at myself. We can get through this lets just put our minds to it and pray for the best!

I have also tried this new way of living many times, but this is the first time that I am following the book word for word. (trying to atleast!) It took me two weeks to get past the first day which was so depressing. I am now finally on day 4 and feel miserable. However, I am going to rely on this board and God to help pull me through. We can do this together.

Re: How Many Times Can One Fail ?? (New Again)

Sabrina, I would walk a minimum of one hour a day.
Clear you mind, bring your kids for the walk, put them in a carriage.
Remember they are the most important things in your life.
You have the rest of your life to figure things out , nothing is permanent.
I know you can do it, because I am doing it.
I have no willpower, I am weak, I am lazy, but every day I try.
Some days , yea I give up.
But its the old story fall down 10,000 times and then get up 10,001.
Take it easy on your self, every day , every hour, just don't beat yourself up.
I was over 340, but i got started, just get started.
Identify where you made your mistakes, learn from them.
I will try to learn from mine.
I wish you all the success in the world, because you deserve success.
                  You are worth it.

One thing that has helped me this time around (my third time around) is getting involved in the forums, in the challenges and even starting a stat journal. The last time i tried this WOL i lost around 50 lbs but i didnt stick with it, I really didnt get involved with the board like i am doing this time, i mostly lurked around. This board is my only support group now, and I know if i stick around, Im going to make it. what you put into this WOL is what you are going to benefit from later...Its going to be tough, nothing is easy. Just take things one day at a time, if you slip up start over the next day, and keep starting over til you get it right. It took me 3 days of slipping before I got back on the wagon.....I dont know why im saying all this but i hope it helps someone.
