  • Safe snacks for nightime hunger pangs please

I'm eating a good balance of food during the day (lots of protein and a high fat intake) and I'm finishing with the main family meal of mainly meat/ fish and cooked veggies around 6ish. I tend to work very late into the night and find I'm getting really hungry around 10. The book says to eat when you're hungry, presumably in moderation like a snack or something so I wouldn't dream of a plate of food then but what CAN I safely have at night when I'm so hungry and have already had my day's full allowance of carbs and cheese?

I also bought some pork crackles to nibble on between meals so could I use those at night?

Perhaps some people could add their own tips too, please
    Thanks

First make sure it's really hunger. Sometimes we mistake thirst for hunger, so drink a glass of water and wait a half hour. If you are still hungry, go ahead and eat something.

You can always allocate a portion of your cheese to that night-time snack. Also, other snacks can be hard-boiled eggs/devilled eggs/egg salad, leftover meat, etc.

I second the water advice - keep drinking, drinking, drinking while you work and you may find you are not so hungry after all.

Secondly avoid the kind of snack you can just pick at as you work. That sort of eating is not about hunger, that's a bad habit. Instead, if you find you really are hungry, I'd suggest going away from your work, sitting down and eating something like half or even less of an avocado with a little mayo. It's filling, healthy and not too heavy late at night.

I've tried the water thing, it's def hunger.
If eggs have a carb value, can I eat them through the day as well as at night without counting their carb value? I would have thought too many would push me over my carb count.
How bad is it to eat extra protein so late?

Just thought, I could do a quick soup by pulsing a small piece of chicken with water and seasonings in my bullet

Soup sounds like a good idea - maybe add some cream or butter to it to up the fat content and make it more filling?

Eggs have about half of a carb each depending on size, so keep a count of them to stay within your maximum of 20 net carbs.

Atkins has no rules about how late at night to eat, so as long as you are hungry and not wanting to eat out of boredom or habit go ahead and eat!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
