  • Is this allowed in 2002 edition?

Sorry, still waiting for the arrival of my "new book"...I have a 1977 version.
Under induction meals, it has something called Diet Revolution Rolls....are these still allowed 30 years later ?

Yes, they are. I make mine with 3 tablespoons of mayo instead of cottage cheese. They are also good made with 3 tablespoons of softened cream cheese.

    Sunny!
People who say it can't be done, should not interrupt those doing it.

Thanks Sunny. How is the texture? Can I pass this off to DH as a roll?

Sunny is correct. As the recipe is written, it would not be acceptable for Induction according to the new rules.

By the way, why are you using the old book? A lot of things have changed from then to now. You'll be doing yourself a favor by getting the 2002 edition rather than figuring out what is and isn't allowed now as opposed to then.

Re: Is this allowed in 2002 edition?

I have the book I started with. I then purchased a newer version, which I lent to someone and never saw again. Not being the quickest learner on the block, I bought another. ....and lent it out....and never saw it again.
Now, I have won one on ebay. Guess what I'm not doing when it gets here?

                      My OLD recipe says:

                      3 eggs, seperated
3 T cottage cheese (see note above to use mayo or cr. cheese instead)
                      1/4 t cream of tartar
                      1 pkt sugar twin
                      Preheat oven to 300F
Beat egg whtes w/tartar until stiff but not dry.
Gently fold in remaining ingredients. Layer by tablespoonful onto a coated teflon cookie sheet, making 6 piles. Bake one hour.

Mine came out quite flat My behind should have such flat buns But, they might make great burger buns.

I only use them for burger buns or sandwich buns. They hold up pretty well, even if you make the sandwich in the morning and carry it most of the day in a backpack.

Hmm Well, when I first took them out of the oven, they smelled like browned eggs,,,,,and I don't like browned eggs. However, after they cooled, the smelled OK. Had on this morning for dinner with some cheddar and kielbasa on it. Was OK.(an odd texture) Might work out well for those days I want a portable, non-messy snack or sandwich.

BTW on a different board one member said she never eats them on the day she makes them, as after being stored overnight in a plastic bag with a few holes punched in it they change in texture and taste much more like bread.
