Re: switching from LOW Calorie to LOW CARB?
Yes, sort of. Since I could never stick to low calorie for more than a couple of weeks, I'm not sure I count.
Results? i can actually EAT!! Imagine going from plain brown rice, a plain chicken breast and a salad with low calorie (read: sugar-enhanced plastic-textured goop) dressing to a nice dinner of parmesan crusted chicken WITH the skin, salad with real bluecheese dressing and veggies enhanced with a blob of butter.
Suffer me!!!!

I think most of us tried low calorie / low fat at some point.... the difficult part is getting used to the fact that fat is good for you!!Originally posted by hollytingleHas anyone ever switched from low calorie to low carb? What was your result?
low carb is definitely better IMO, sure i lost weight on low calorie but i wasnt happy, and i couldnt of lived like that forever, i can live like this forever though!HW 303Aug '04 SW-287 LW-232Restart - Apr 07 - SW 266 CW 225

Re: switching from LOW Calorie to LOW CARB?
I agree with Emma. I did low fat/low cal off and on for years and lost weight (but would always eventually cave and binge). The last few tries at low fat/low cal, I kept gaining weight. I can honestly say that on the low carb I don't feel deprived (like I did with low fat/low cal). I will admit that I was terrified of eating stuff so high in fat (like macadamia nuts). After years of doing the low fat/low cal you kind of get in the mind-set that fat is bad ... especially with the media throwing out a new low cal/low fat diet every week and promoting light/lite or no fat versions of items.

Re: switching from LOW Calorie to LOW CARB?
Yes, I lost more weight. A long way to go, but it's coming off easier and more quickly than with any low fat diet I ever tried. Over 30lb in 10 weeks? I've sure never done that on any low fat diet.
But that, in a way, is the least of it.
On low fat diets I felt deprived, tired and hungry. On low carb I feel satisfied with what I eat, I am full of energy, my skin is glowing and I feel great. There is no comparison.
It does take a while to cast aside the guilt about eating fat and believing that this way of eating actually works. I read and read and read everything I could get my hands on and now feel foolish that I bought the low-fat stuff as the 'only way' for so long and didn't discover this WOE until now. Foolish but happy.Kate

Re: switching from LOW Calorie to LOW CARB?
Let's see...I gained 25 pounds in 2 months on low cal/low fat and have lost 19 pounds in 6 weeks on low carb. That would be a definite YES!!Originally posted by hollytingleWell did you lose more weight when you switched?
The horrific weight gain is why I tried something new. Just grateful I tried Atkins!!
