  • Help - light but legal foods to eat after appendectomy

So after a perfect 5 days of induction, I woke up in the middle of the night Tues. with lower right ab pain that was excruciating. Decided I couldn't take it anymore around 4 am, and after several tests in the er, I was wheeled into sugery 5 pm weds, had laporoscopic appendectomy and I went home Thursday night. I can eat light solids today, adding slowly.

Should I attempt to stay on Induction foods? Or ditch it til my diet is no longer restricted? Are there any good easily tolerated induction foods?

I guess the Turbo Jam also stays in the wrapper for another few weeks...I will find out Tuesday when I see the doc, but until then, I can walk a bit and that's about it.

I know I shouldn't have stepped on the scale but after 2 days in the hospital with nothing but IV fluids, ice chips and a couple of bouillon cups...I was up 9+ pounds. I know it's got to be all fluid, but that was kind of a shocker! Guess I won't complain again when TOM causes a measly 2 lb gain!

what ever you doctor orders are. you have to be careful till he gives you the green light.
i am not a doctor, so I don't assume to know what is best for you after surgery.

My doctors orders are "eat lightly".

Thanks for the egg suggestion. I will try them and maybe in some broth for egg drop soup too.

        Any other ideas are welcome!

I guess light in this case also means relatively low in fat.
At least fat is what you shouldnt eat when your stomach is upset, so I guess that goes for this case as well.
I don't really know what kinds of foods that could be, I mean veggies yes but I wouldn't know if high or low in fiber would be of importance then.
In any case though if your doc can give you some tips on what these light foods would be, just roll with it.
you getting healthy should be the most important thing for you and you can still keep it sugar free and low carb I guess but those hospital days were not induction days anyway so you really shouldn't worry about that too much now.

          Get well soon!
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

What does your doctor say? Did he say continue with your regular diet when you get home or did he give you a specific diet?
