Kinda screwed up the first 3 days. Shall I do 17-days?

  • Kinda screwed up the first 3 days. Shall I do 17-days?

    Due to my ignorance of the artificial sweeteners , I was drinking about 3 diet soda a day during the first 3 days of my induction, I also had about 3 low-carb (1g/8 fl oz) Fuze drinks (about 1 /day), each is about 20 fl oz.
    These two things were my only screw-ups . Fuze drinks contents and nutrition facts are listed in another post here,

    Didn't take me long in this forum to figure out that I wasn't doing it 100% right . I quite the soda and Fuze and decided to go religiously by the book.

    Now these 3 days that I had diet sodas and Fuze drink on, shall I substitute them by extending the 14-days induction with another 3 days? Or just move to the OWL once my 14-days induction is over?

    i think in the long run , its important you did the right thing, acknowledged what you did wrong, you re-read the rules, you are back on the wagon.
    You can always start a clean 14 induction today.

      I would count your first 14 days as being your initial induction even though you drank some drinks you are now not going to continue with from now on.

      Even if you decide to follow induction rules for longer than 14 days before moving to OWL, your results after those first 14 days are the ones to use when you discover (using the chart in DANDR) what sort of metabolic resistance to weightloss you have.
      Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
      Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

          It's a chart in the book - DANDR stands for Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution.

          The chart tells you, based on the amount of weight lost during induction, what level of metabolic resistance you have.

            Is there any resources out there on the net that I can find more info on this. I would be really interested to know lthe evel of metabolic resistance my body has.

              The metabolic resistance chart is in Chapter 13 - titled 'Are you ready for phase two?' - of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR) In my copy it is on page 158.

                Thanks Elizellen. I ordered the book the same day started Atkins. Haven't received it yet.. I think it should be here right after thanksgiving holidays, I will check that out.

                QQ as well. I posted that in another thread, haven't got an answer yet. Due to the kind of work I do, I really don't find any time to do any exercise. I keep reading that in Atkins "exercise is not an option". Do you think I can still have a good induction without exercise?

                I am planning to get back to it once we deliver the project by 12/21 (exactly one month from now), but till then I kinda spend most of my time in the office, and when I am not in the office, I am either commuting back home or on the bed getting ready for next day.

                  just try to move as much as possible, take the stairs instead of the lift, walk or bike instead of taking the car...this kinda stuff.
                  I can't go to the gym atm because I'm sick all the time so doing cardio workouts would put even more of a strain on my lungs than my cold does but I try to at least move a lot.
                  Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

                    Yes - that is the chart I was referring to

                    Sera is right, if you dont have time to schedule formal exercise sessions you can start moving your body more in your daily living by taking the stairs, parking further away from the entrance when going shopping or to work, not using the car for short journeys etc.

                    Even things like housework can be done in 'exercise mode' - sometimes I put the stereo on loud so I can hear it above the hoover and really go for it, ending the hoovering feeling I have had a good workout!!

                      A lot of people don't do really strenuous exercise at first. Induction flu can make you feel out of sorts for a few days. If you have a LOT of weight to lose, you need to start exercise very carefully and slowly work up.

                      That said, there are many things you can do right in your desk chair or beside your desk. You can do some squats every time you go in or out of your office. Take longer routes, where ever you walk. When you get your book, you'll find Dr. Atkins has an answer for every excuse you can come up with. He didn't like exercise, either, but he did it anyway, and he expects us to, also.

                          I stole that quote from somone else, but it has served me well. My doubters and naysayers are now asking me for advice and recipes! They can see how well the "diet" has worked for losing weight, but more importantly, they can see first hand how much more healthy I am. I haven't died yet from this dangerous diet! I just kinda ignore the naysaying, and continue on showing by example just how unfounded their fears and misinformation are.
