Does anyone here have steroid inhalers for their asthma? I have been taking a steroid inhaler for as long as I can remember. Maybe since age 10, younger even I think. I am now on Symbacort, 2 inhaltions twice daily. I am worried about the long term affects of this. Does anyone know anything about how these steroid inhalers affect weight gain and loss??? I do plan on having a chat with my family doctor in detail regarding this eventually as well. Thanks,

PS.... I cannot wait to see the improvements in my asthma with losing weight! It started getting alot worse during my pregnancy with my first daughter. Ever since I've had to carry my ventolin with me at all times, just in case.

I have asthma but do not use a steroid inhaler though I have in the past (never noticed an issue with gaining or losing weight). I do carry my ventolin but use it rarely. I can say without a doubt this eating plan helps asthma. In the past when I started eating carbs (or went off plan for a while) my asthma became much worse.

Talk with your doctor about it. Breathing is a top priority for life in general and for exercise!

        So talk to your doc.

PS: I was on Advair and Proventil when I started Atkins, about 6 months into the diet, I was off the Advair. I still take the Proventil before I exercise, though, more out of assurance than anything else.

          Hey!

Yes, I too have been taking symbacort for the past 7 years and I remember when I first took it (I wasn't trying to lose weight) I noticed it made my face and puffier, I'm thinkin water retention?!!! I was using it everyday 4 puffs 2 times a day. Now, I don't have to use it maybe once a month, so I haven't noticed anything...

BTW...I know how you feel having to use that everyday... I hope your breathing gets better
