  • Cold Help?

I just started on 11/26. I have now gotten a cold that has wiped me out. I'm not hungry, but I feel like I should eat something. Does anyone have advice for medicine and/or food that will help?

    Re: Cold Help?

I am not a doctor, and I am not giving any medical advice, but when I was sick on atkins i drank a lot of hot tea, decaf preferably, i did not drink any flavored liquid cough medicine, I take an antihistamine like Benadryl, a nasal decongestant like sudafed, asprin for fever, and I still made sure my carbs were coming from the vegetable list. I did not go off atkins. Meaning I can have the common cold and still stay on aktins. I hope you feel better.

Ditto on Jimmy's disclaimer. I just drink chicken soup. We normally put cabbage in our soup to have some veggies. If you can't stomach much than maybe drink the broth? If it's a cold it just has to run its course. It'll go away soon.
Just remember to rest and drink lots of fluids. Hope you feel better soon

Just make sure you don't get dehydrated. Vegetables in chicken broth is excellent if you do decide you want something to eat. Otherwise, just make sure that you are getting lots of water. Cold medicine can dehydrate you fast.

The others are right - soup is a good way of getting your veggies and meat in when you cant face solid food.

I often just throw some cooked veggies and meat into the food processor and wizz it up into a puree then add cream and some butter to enhance the taste and up my fat content.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I agree... soup's the best for a cold. Really hits the right spot and helps keep fluids up too.
