• 9 days in induction and 7.7 pounds gone

I started Atkins on the 28th of november...I weighed today and I have a total loss of 7.7 pounds..

Just wanted to update....

The only bad thing is that Im really starting to crave carbs...but I managed to refuse a piece of cheese cake today..

I havent started to exercise..since Im writing my thesis and my sleeping hours are completely screwed up...I know I need the exercise...might as well start with my yoga DVD ...at least its something!!!

Any advice on how to distract my brain from the cravings???.

Try eating more fat. That usually kills the cravings. Or drink a few glasses of water.

When I get cravings, I usually grab something crunchy to snack on like celery or jicama, and then hurry and go do something like vacuum the livingroom or go for a drive. Seems to help! Oh, or wrap Christmas presents. That's so frustrating that I can't think about anything else while I am doing it, lol.

CONGRATULATIONS on the 7.7 lbs. Well done!

Hang in there, it will get better Claudia. I tell you the first few days I thought I was going to collapse from carb withdrawals but when I got past that I felt GREAT! Don't give in to the craving because you will just have to start over. Keep going.

that wrapping christmas presents idea sounds like a good idea. I thought about doing some pushups, next time I get a craving but I haven't tried that plan yet. I have tried the L-glutamine and 1000 mg worked for me on an empty stomach.

Hey you're doing great! I know what you mean... time to get creative in the kitchen... Here's a fabulous recipe I'm gonna paste... it's so good, you're gonna love it! Totally sweet and yummy!
Re: Dom's Cheesecake
I know the menu by heart!
Its 8oz cream cheese, 8oz sour cream, 8oz heavy whipped cream, 1/2 cup splenda, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 1 tsp lemon extract.

Blend the cream cheese, sour cream, splenda and flavourings together. Then fold in the whipped cream. Its that easy girls! Then pour into your favourite dishes!

There is a whole thread about it in the food chat section! My family loves it too... when you get to the fruit rung you can have it with strawberries or blueberries or both! It's great!

by the way I replaced the Splenda with "Sweet & Low" (saccharin) to lower the carbs a little bit. Ended up with 5 servings, each is about 6-7g carbs. Although the ingredients are "induction friendly", but 6-7g carbs still high for induction though. As per to Dr. Atkins, you need to have 12-15g carbs a day from your veggies. You take one serving of this cheesecake and you won't have much wiggle room for any other non-veggie carbs during the day.

I tried the cheesecake yesterday. As I have mentioned bfore.. did 5 servings (5 cups). First time to have something sweet for more than 3 weeks. It was good, but for some reason by the time I reached half of my cup, I was totally satisfied. This is not me, especially when it comes to cheesecake or ice cream. I usually take a bite and keep going till I am full, and usually this is like 3 or 4 cups..

But was happy that I had the cup in my hand, I am totally allowed to have the full cup, my carbs for the day are still under the allowed amount, but I still gave that up and handed the cup to my wife saying.. "I am done. It is good, but I am done".. Nice feeling really.

Well, anyway, just wanted to update yall with this.. Thanks again hopejoy for the recipe.
