  • My first (little) slip up...

    Hi everyone!!

Well today is day #12 for me and it has been going great overall. However, last night as I was putting my dinner in Fitday I had a bit of a shock , followed by anxiety but now I am okay

I am very careful about measuring everything but last night I decided to make a taco salad for dinner. I used 1.5 cup of romaine since I had already had 3/4 cup of cucumbers and mushrooms between breakfast and lunch. For my 3/4 cup of "other" veggies I used one chopped up Roma tomato(about 1/2 cup) and 2 tablespoons of Pace chunky salsa (no sugar in ingredients, 1 carb per tablespoon. I then added 1/4 cup shredded cheese, 5 chopped up black olives, cooked ground beef, a tablespoon of sour cream and about 2 tablespoons of a mashed up avocado.

Anyway, I put all this in and wound up with 22 net carbs for the day due to the high carb content of the tomato, avocado, and black olives. This was the first time I had gone over 20 and I am so hopeful that this was not enough to push me out of ketosis. I still felt the same today (thirsty despite drinking 93 ounces of water per day, metal taste in my mouth, minimal appetite) which I took as a good sign.

I have made a mental note to self about tomatoes, avocados and black olives being on my personal watch out list and will not let this happen again. I took me forever to go to sleep last night worrying about it.

Thanks in advance for any comments.

I am looking SO forward to the weigh-in coming on Saturday--this is the first time in my adult life that I am actually EXCITED about weighing myself

i am very proud how accurate you are keeping records of your carbs. you are doing great. analyzing your intake is the best thing you can do with water and exercise.

You are doing absolutely fine. If you take a look at Atkins Induction Meal Plan published in Atkins web site,

            http://www.atkins.com/articles/atkin...tion-meal-plan

You will have days that are slightly higher than 20 carbs/day. You will see 21.5, 21s, and 22, but you will also see 18, etc. I won't worry at all. If it makes u feel better, you can stick to only 18 carbs tomorrow, and the sample menu is already there (Day 6).

Re: My first (little) slip up...

I would also assume that you have already taken the fiber gms out of the total carbs displayed by Fitday to get the net carbs, yea?

Re: My first (little) slip up...

                    Hi einy!

Yes, I did subtract the fiber (7G) from the total carbs (29G). Usually my net carbs have been running about 15-16 plus 1-2 added for the Splenda in the DaVinci Syrup (I count each tablespoon as 1 packet of Splenda). I have avoided all diet soda for 2 weeks now and really don't miss it at all.

Tomorrow (Friday) will be my 14th day of induction and I have not yet made the decision about moving to OWL (more veggies). I want to wait until I weigh myself on Saturday and see how much I have lost which apparently tells me how "resistant" my system is to the Atkins WOE. There's gonna be a big old between me and my system if I do not lose at least a few pounds. My clothes definitely fit looser...

I could pretty easily stay on Induction for a while longer since I feel great and have no significant cravings and BEST OF ALL I have not been more than mildly hungry since day 1--that in itself astonishes me!! But I have read that many lose faster when they go on OWL Rung 1 so I may have to try that.
