    Re: Sausages!!!!

that's a lof of carbs for sausages. you can find o carb sausage, ask your butcher, you want 100% beef/pork sausage. i am sure your store has them, i would pass on any sausage that has 4.7 carbs / serving. For me I have a burger king close to my house and bk.com says their eggs has 2 grams of carbs, I know eggs have no carbs, so you always have to be suspicious.

        Re: Sausages!!!!

I get mine from a butcher, there beef/pork with some basis spices. That way there is no sugar or wheat starch that a lot of companies use.

From the store it is tough to find 0g carb ones, but you should be able to find some with just a gram. Big thing is to read the ingredients. Good Luck.

So you know, eggs do have carbs: 1 large egg= Calories 74.5 Fat 5.01g Carbohydrate 0.61g Dietary Fiber 0g Protein 6.24g

You make a four egg omelete and you have 2.44g of carbs so I always count them.

okay , i agree eggs do have carbs, but burger king eggs, have to have something else to have 2 grams per serving, unless its a rounding error. but good point on eggs do have carbs, my point is just the carb count seems high 2 grams /serving

I agree with you about that being high. I am always suspicious about what the fast food chains say anyway. Not that they don't taste good, lol.

All this talk about sausage and eggs as is making me hungry. Guess it's time for a low-carb snack.

              Re: Sausages!!!!

Are you in UK, Wood ? If so you will be hard pushed to find any 'normal' sausages without filler like breadcrumbs or starches as the traditional banger is usually only about 60% meat!

The german style sausages like bratwurst should be around 99% meat, so would be a better Atkins choice. Mattesons large pork sausages are ok too as they have less than one carb per 100 grams (3.5 ounces)

                Re: Sausages!!!!

I found some delicious chicken sausage with spinach and asiago cheese at the local Sam's Wholesale Club--they taste a lot like bratwurst and I really like them.

Each sausage (size of a bratwurst) has 15G Protein, 4.5G Fat and 1 Carb--plus no nitrites--sounded like an Atkins allowable item to me and fortunately they are really yummy.

                    Re: Sausages!!!!

Actually I have found no-carb traditional-style sausages but only from one company - Devon Rose (www.devonrose.co.uk)
a shop near us used to sell them but have stopped, but you can buy direct.

I found a sausage making kit at a charity shop and make my own nowadays for my husband out of just minced pork belly or pork chops.
