  • HELP! Day 3 (almost) and feeling like sh**

    Help me, help me!

    I am so close to stopping already. Tell me the constant head ache and not being able to MOVE I am so tired, goes away!

    Plus, I can't seem to get it out of my head that I can eat a steak (small one) and some sauted zucc. & muschrooms and loose weight.....LOL.....I feel guilty for eating it. Did anyone else struggle with that?

    Not to mention a co-worker brought in cookies today and a neighbor brought me chocolate for christmas. UGH!!!!!

    It is called "Induction Flu" & usually passes after 3-4 days. Push the fluids...your body is detoxing. Hang tough...you can do it.

    Have you read the DANDR? Keep it handy for reference as it is full of great info & encouragement. Plus come to ADBB!!

      I agree that you can do this. These feelings will pass and you will be fine! Hold strong, and the results will be more then worth it.

        The first few days are the worst but pretty soon you will feel great. You won't be hungry or have cravings and you'll start losing weight. Please read the book so you understand why Atkins works. Once you do you'll have no second thoughts about eating this way. Also, Advil helped me get through the bad headaches of induction.

          Just try your hardest to stick with this through your 14 days. You will be so glad you did. Your flu like symptoms will pass. You will be so proud of the results you will see when your 14 days are up. Hang in there... you can do this! Drink lots of water and if you can exercise...exercising has been a wonderful addition to my new way of life. I feel so much better and so full of energy.

            JenLynn,

            HANG IN THERE GIRL!! Make sure you are drinking your water (at least 72 oz. per day according to your weight) and make sure you are eating enough. You have to eat 3 times per day and don't feel guilty--just ignore the cookies (they are EVIL) and give the chocolate away (try not to cry when doing this )

            A lot of people talk about feeling this way during the first few days but everyone says it will get better.

              Yes you will make it. I promise you I UNDERSTAND what you are dealing with. I was withdrawing so bad until I thought I was going to have to go to the doctor until I realized my body was going through carb withdrawals. This did stop after about 3 days and I had so much energy and wasn't hungry. It will pay off . Hang in there.

                Take some headache pills and in a day or so hopefully you will be feeling much better.

                The way I coped with friends giving me chocolate and other goodies over my induction-level Christmas was to thank them profusely then (when they had gone) to re-wrap the gift and make sure I found an excuse to give it away as a gift the same day.

                The waitress at our local cafe who was happy to change my order to something Atkins-friendly, the lady in the post office who was always helpful, the windowcleaner, etc were all suprised to get a 'small token of my appreciation' that year!

                  Induction Flu stinks, I had no strength, everyone at my son's birthday party said I looked like a ghost back in february.
                  This will pass. Your body is detoxing the carbs and turning itself into a fat burning machine.
                  I know this sounds stupid and ridiculous, but you have got to walk and drink water.
                  Go walk around the mall, I know it sounds stupid, go buy yourself something nice, (not carbs), you deserve a new toy to celebrate your detox.
                  Make sure you are taking some kind of fiber supplement, like Flax seed meal or toasted flax seed.

                      This is what I needed. Thanks for letting me vent! I felt REALLY bad this morning but I am plugging along. I have lost a little weight, and that helps keep going. I did break down and have a diet rite. I know this means I need to count the sweet serving and increase my water today even more. But somehow just that one thing helped me stay on track. Is that okay, so long as it's not a habit?

                        Jen,

                        Most of us been there.. Your body is switching now from burning glucose to burning fat. Most people feel terrible, this is just normal. Look at the bright side of it, this means that you are on the right track and your body is responding to you diet change correctly. You will certainly need some over the counter Acetaminophen like tylenol or Ibuprofen like Advil or so, depending on what your body likes best. But, water, water, water.. please, the more water you can get, the better the situation is.

                        One more thing.. Don't step on that scale *yet*. Just forget about the scale for at least one week. It is even recommended not to weigh yourself till the full 14-days induction is over. The reason is, your weight can fluctuate and you may even see 1lb gain from day to day before it dropped to the expected level.

                        Once your induction is over check your CCLL or share the results with us here in the forum to be able to determine what your metabolic resistance is and see how you are going to proceed later.

                        Meanwhile, you are doing really great.. Just hang in there, your 2nd week is going to be way better..
