  • Crystal Light?

I am having a very hard time drinking all of the water that I am supposed to be drinking!!!! Is Crystal light ok? It doesn't seem to change anything on my ketosis strips but I thought all of you veterans would be able to tell me why or why not, I should or should not be drinking it.

I also wanted to know if the 20 carbs a day is above and beyond the meat and eggs or if the carbs for those count as well towards this number?

I have not read the book yet but I am going to go and purchase it within the next week for sure!!!!

    Re: Crystal Light?

In the mean time, Lisa, do visit our FAQ forum and read the induction threads to make sure you are doing induction correctly

The 20 net carbs include everything we eat and we are supposed to get most of them from our veggies

    3. Eat no more than 20 grams a day of carbohydrate, most of which must come in the form of salad greens and other vegetables. You can eat approximately three cups-loosely packed-of salad, or two cups of salad plus one cup of other vegetables
As for the Crystal light, do check what sweetener it contains, as you need to try to find 'legal' sweetener according to the list, and from what I have read here not all Crystal light will be 'legal'. Also we need to count one serving (usually 8 fluid ounces) of sweetened drink as one of our carbs, and there is a limit of 3 servings of sweetener per day!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

Does Crystal Light have splenda or aspartame? Dr. Atkin's advises in the book not to have aspartame.

            Re: Crystal Light?

Is the seltzer flavored or is it carbonated water? Is there a brand or flavor that you would recomend?

Seltzer water is the same as carbonated water only it isnt as bitter as plain carbonated. One idea would be to make some KoolAid with splenda and add seltzer water instead of regular water.

Also, Here is a link to a crystal light poduct that shows you the nutritional info. There is ASPERTAME in crystal light.
