  • Cream Cheese and sugar

I am making Jalapeno Poppers for tonight. I know that it says that cream cheese is allowed but I noticed that there is 1 gram of sugar in cream cheese. Is this ok or should I be finding a different brand or something???

    Re: Cream Cheese and sugar

you won't find cream cheese with less than 1 g carbs....it's from the lactose, a naturally occuring milk sugar. Just make sure there aren't any added.

Oooooo. I love those. I don't know about the sugar, but I make them all the time. Do you wrap them in bacon?

Lisa, I noticed you want to get down to 120 lbs. That's pretty small for a girl your height. Have you weighed 120 before?

I have never made these before but I thought I better have something good for myself to munch on at the party that we are going to tonight. I am going to cook the bacon first and then sprink it on top or mix it into the cream cheese. I don't like the way wrapped bacon turns out (kind of slimey).

I did weighed 125 in high school and was a size 5. I guess I should have put 125 down, I will change it.

It's so nice to have friends to talk to about this diet!!! My husband doesn't understand how much support I really need.

            Re: Cream Cheese and sugar

Have you tried stuffed mushroom caps? You get the big mushrooms, pull out the stems, fill with crumbled sausage, sprinkle with cheddar cheese, then bake to melt the cheese. If you don't like slimey, maybe you won't like them. The thought of mushrooms makes my boyfriend want to barf, so I like to take them to parties when we go. tee hee.

When I lost weight last year on Atkins, I got down to 145 and was a size 6. It was weird. I think they are making the sizes bigger these days. I was a size 4 before my first child (in 1993-eek!) and weighed 125. You'll be surprised how small you get when the scales tell you you're not.

Good luck tonight! I'm taking deviled eggs! No alcohol for me, cuz I'm on induction [rats!] -- twink

                  Re: Cream Cheese and sugar

You might be able to find a cream cheese with less carbs if you read labels. I found that the own brand from Waitrose (UK) has only 2 carbs per 100 gram, making around 0.57 carbs per ounce! though I do count each ounce as one carb no matter what the actual count is, as Dr Atkins advised.

As has been said, it is the added sugars we are trying to avoid, not the natural sugars.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                      Re: Cream Cheese and sugar

                      I guess its roughly 1 carb = 1 oz, 16 carbs = 1lb.
Make sure you get 15-20 net carbs a day from veggie list.
So it only leaves about a quarter pound of cheese at absolute most.
For me , I love food, if I buy cheese, its very hard to ration it.
I wish they sold cheese in smaller packages.
