  • Food likes and dislikes on induction

Ok, let me first say that I know I'm weird....I'm just putting that out there

I need some help here....I will list the things that I DO NOT eat, and then you -with your wisdom and knowledge, let me know what are alternatives for induction .....here it goes:

EGGS - COOKED ANY WAY - YUCK!
TUNA - OK, ALL SEAFOOD FOR THAT MATTER - DOUBLE YUCK - Makes me gag
MUSHROOMS - Ok, they are a fungus....need I say more?
    MILK - So I guess that's ok...
    WATERMELON - another ok thing...
MEAT THAT IS NOT WELL DONE - Ok, if you must know, I like it burned...

Now I know that for alot of people, eggs are a staple, but I just can't...really, I will throw up.

So, please help me you wise one...WHAT CAN I EAT?!?!?

    *humble* Thank you!
    Michele

i will only eat burnt meat also, i thought i was weird, guess not.
i will only eat burnt fried veg also... i just like burnt stuff...

So whats your problem, theres a million things on the acceptable foods list that you havent mentioned, so just eat them?

think outside the box for every meal, breakfast doesnt hafta be eggs, it can be leftovers from last nights dinner, lunch, make salads, add chicken BURNT, lol... Dinner make cauli mash, broc cheese, aubergine bakes, with a steak or something...

Just eat more of the things you DO like then ...

Make chicken (Well done if you like) : cut up in cubes & eat cold as a snack or make chicken wings, put chicken over a salad, make chicken breasts covered in cheese for meals ..

I buy hamburger thats already pressed into patties.. then i just grab one out of the freezer and through it in a pan when im hungry..

      String cheese ..

There are so many options for you

      GOOD LUCK

I don't eat plain eggs either. They make my tummy hurt for some reason.

If you haven't already, I would recommend checking out Linda's website. She has some awesome induction friendly recipes: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/index.html I love her "Just like twice baked potatoes" made with cauliflower. It's delicious!

I eat lots of grilled chicken and salads. Ham/cheese rollups for snacks.

For breakfast I eat a bowl of pumpkin with creamcheese and cinnamon melted in. It's good!

          Thanks for the replies!

I've never really tried "dinner" for breakfast before....

          I'll have to do that....

I am going to Linda's site to fix me up somethin' good!!

Ok, so totally off the subject, but can someone explain the "reputation" thing? I'm not sure what it is for and how it works.

            Thanks!!

First off, you should be relieved to know that milk and watermelon are not allowed during the Induction Phase, so you can cross those two items off your list.

Secondly, there are about 54 vegetables on the Induction Acceptable Foods List. If mushrooms aren't your thing, you still have 53 veggies from which to choose.

Thirdly, if you don't like or cannot eat eggs and tuna/seafood, you don't have to eat them. There is no Induction Rule that states you must eat eggs and tuna/seafood. All animal proteins are fair game during the Atkins diet. If you like venison and pheasant, go ahead and eat them. If you like beef and chicken, eat them. Just be aware that some processed meat products, like hotdogs, sausages, cold cuts, etc. might contain ingredients that are not allowed during Induction so you will have to read the labels and avoid those products.

Fourthly, there is no Induction Rule that you have to have your meat cooked rare or medium rare. So if you like well-done meat, cook it well-done. If you like your meats roasted, roast them. If you like them boiled, boil them. Be aware that whatever you cook them with, like spice blends, or whatever you eat them with, like bottled sauces, cannot contain added sugars or starches.

Re: Food likes and dislikes on induction

Don't permanently write off all of the foods you don't like, especially vegetables. I know I am happily and regularly eating things I hated before - my taste buds have changed so much that they now taste different, and nicer.

I never liked radishes much, now I eat them almost daily. Ditto cauliflower, and cauliflower 'rice' is now a staple of my diet. I hated courgettes (zucchini), now, sliced and dipped in seasoned parnesan and baked, they are a real treat. Could not even consider raw spinach, now I throw some into almost every salad I eat. The list goes on.

Re: Food likes and dislikes on induction

I can relate to the egg thing I used to hate them .......... and I mean hate them even the smell of them cooking drove me bonkers .......Now I eat them occasionally but only when mixed with so many other things you really can't tell there are eggs involved. LOL

I make a delicious scramble with onions peppers sausage summer squash and then just one egg to make it all sort of come together ........ it's awesome ...... but if the egg doesn't work for you it's great with out as well. Meats are so expensive I was trying to find ways to get in my protein with out buying the more expensive meats so I taught myself to disguise my eggs with other foods. Now I am fine with them.

A cheeseburger with bacon and ranch dressing happens to be my favorite breakfast!

Just keep trying things and enjoy!!!!!
