    Re: Really Down!

I felt that whole "how come I can't eat that and he can??" thing ALL THE TIME.. but the truth is, my boyfriend and all of my roommates have gained around 10lbs each for the past few months, and they're STILL eating their bleached white rice and pizza and ramen noodles all the time! So I don't feel bad, anymore. I feel good knowing that I'm losing weight, even if I can't tell at first. Nor do I feel guilty about what I eat anymore, and that feels even worse than being overweight.

        Re: Really Down!

Just reading through and wow the support you have here is amazing .........I often tell new people here that they will find more support and encouragment then they could ever imagine here and yet posts like this still leave me in awe........ You can't fail if you bond together with a group like this and glean what you can from their previous experience.

I do have one tiny peice of advice ........... change your mini goals ........ 200->160 is a HUGE goal not a mini goal ....... make baby steps you can acheive and see progress with. Make a mini goal of 5-10 pounds and savor the victory each time you make one ........ Let 160 be a halfway step for you but have several 10 lb mini goals in between! Seeing and feeling and celebrating your success will be one of the tools that will keep you on track ........

I wish you the very best!!!!!

          Re: Really Down!

          Lisa Marie,

I hear your pain. I'm up two pounds from yesterday and I have been following induction to the letter. The great thing about your post is the posts that followed it. I feel so much better about my gradual weight reduction (4 pounds and I started on 12/26--four days before you!). I'm going to stay off the scale and stop obsessing about it. Like you, I envy those gals who have lost 9 pounds in a week, but I really don't think you can lose 9 lbs of FAT in a week. You can lose 9 lbs of weight, maybe SOME fat, maybe MOSTLY water. As far as your husband goes, he sounds just like my boyfriend. Really wants to lose weight with me, says he'll support me by eating only the things I can eat when I am with him (he doesn't want to do Atkins, he wants to do his OWN diet), but he sure piled on those noodles yesterday at the Mongolian Grill. I decided I can't rely on him to encourage me. That's why I subscribed to this bulletin board. My secret revenge is in six months or so when he's still tubby, and I'm svelt and beautiful. As he's enjoying his garlic bread, I'm thinking "Power down those carbs Baby, can't wait to hear you whining in six months!" Hang in there, Lisa Marie. Don't cheat on induction. It's the kiss of failure. I know, cuz I been dere, dun dat, got da t-shirt.

            Re: Really Down!

Lisa Marie, I am so happy to see your new post!!!

I hope I didn't come across as too harsh. I've been where you've been, and I hate to see anybody else there!

Before I found ADBB, I thought I didn't have to read the book, or do Atkins correctly. I thought I could make my "own" rules. I wondered why I wasn't losing weight like I felt I should have been. Luckily, some really great people gave me HONEST, straight-forward answers! No bars, no shakes, no sugar-free this or that, NO CAFFIENE! I bit the bullet, ate cleanly, and felt AMAZING. The weight loss was an added bonus! There is no feeling in the world that compares to clean eating, as tacky as that sounds. It's a feeling of satisfaction, of confidence, of CONTROL! For once, I was in control of the foods, the food did not control me.

I'm so happy to see that you are motivated and determined to do things the right way. ADBB is HERE for you, cheering you on, willing to help however we can. We want you to succeed!

                Re: Really Down!

Nobody was too harsh! I am a very honest person myself and appreciate it because I hate waisting time so the sooner you get to the truth the better. But it's nice to have the soft people when you are feeling so down sometimes ya know Everyone needs the soft people when they are being volnerable. This forum is all about being volnerable. It's hard admitting that food has so much power over you and most people are trying to act as if it's been their choice to be overweight instead of admitting that it's a problem and an addiction. All of your posts have really given me hope and also made me look at myself to figure out why I was doing what I was doing (messing up).

I am going to change my goals so that they are more short term and hopefully end up being realistic! You will see them on my next posts. I am thinking 5 pounds a week because that would still get me into my dress. I am also going to be posting my daily menus so that I can make sure that I am not making any mistakes. I appreciate all of your kind and caring words (everyones!)

I will see you in the posts

                      Re: Really Down!

HELLO! I wanted everyone to know that I did reach my first weeks goal! however, I did not reach it on the 12th because I had gained about 5 pounds for a couple of days from my monthly friend. Today (now that I am almost finished with my monthly friend) I am down to 195lbs

Things that I have changes recently (not good or bad just changes I have made) are...

I got some rasberry diet right and like it very much for when I want something other than water.

I've started to weigh myself naked everytime so that I get the most accurate read because I find that my clothes can change my weight anywhere from 1 to 4 pounds depending on what I am wearing.

My goals for myself this week ...

                      To drink more water!!!!

To do more cardio and not just weights when I go to the gym

To go to the gym 6 days out of 7

To not weigh myself until Thursday and then again on Monday (no advice on not weighing myself please. I am getting better! I was weighing myself 5 times a day! I will continue to do better as I expand my goals each week but have to know that I will be able to stick to my goal and at this point two times a week is what I know I can do and succeed at).

I am looking for a good place to go out to eat today with my husband (we don't have the kids today). We are going to Ruby Tuesdays and I am getting the salad bar and bringing my own blue cheese dressing. Does anyone know which dressings are safe to eat there??? I went shopping the other day and I could not find a ranch or a caesar without sugar listed in the ingredients :-( I looked forever at the cheap stuff and at the expenssive stuff.

I hope that everyone has a fantastic week!!!!

EVEYONE.... eventually has a stall period. yur body is just adjusting to its new weight and will soo pick up speed again. Try eliminating somehtin you are currently esating or have been eating for a WHILE like sour cream, lemon, heavy cream, cheese..... see if thse help. If things don't work your bound to get discourage but you cant give up coming this far. Jst readjust your menu ad see how things go.

Sounds like things are going really well, Lisa Marie. Congrats on your losses!

As for weighing daily, I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing as long as you are flexible enough to know that there will be fluctuations. I've weighed almost every single day for the last two years. Until about 6 months ago, I ONLY allowed myself to write it down on Tuesdays. In August I started writing it down every day so I can see patterns and such. I can be up 2 lbs one day, down 3 the next or stay the same for a week and then be down 5 lbs. It depends on what I eat, hormones, and exercise. As long as you can be flexible and not get all bent out of shape, I don't see a problem with that.

I always weigh naked, in the morning after the potty and before I take a bite or drink of anything.

Ruby Tuesday has some good low carb entrees. The Chicken Oscar is really good and I about 2-3 grams of carbs and the second item down in the seafood section (I think it is New Orleans Seafood) is really good and also about 2-3 grams of carbs. The brocolli is 5 carbs. The ranch dressing is 2 grams of carbs per serving and I am pretty sure they have Blue Cheese as well (usually 1 carb). If you go to their website, you will find a menu with all of the nutritional information. Enjoy!
