  • Drinks ...

    I wanted to talk about drinks .. Im a big drinker ;-) I used to have 2-3 cups of coffee every morning with LOTs of coffee mate ... then id say about 6-7 diet sodas through out the day ... i also love juice .. like pine orange bannana juice

    I had to cut out the coffee all together because the only way i like it is with coffee mate .. the only other alternative would be whole cream & splenda .. but i need like almost 1/4 cup creamer per glass of coffee ...s o i just figured .. cut it off completely .. i swithced to green tea .. which i actually love now .. i just put one packet of splenda in it and its good to go ... plus they have lots of flavored ones too .. so coffes out .. teas in ...

    Soda's my gosh i drink alot of soda .. although i drink diet .. its still no good .. .so im working on that & trying to drink more water .. I'v added lemon & cucumber to my water for some flavor ..

    Iv been told to avoid Crystal light :-( is that true?

    Anyway im just rambling on now ...

    but Does anyone else miss the drink options?

    I do miss them, too. However, I find that the easiest way to get yourself on water is to surround yourself with it for easy access. At my desk I have water bottles and cups of water ready, and I just don't buy drinks. I keep telling myself "water is free! save money you would be spending on drinks, and buy new shoes instead!"

      And water helps flush the fat out of your body. The more water you drink the more weight you'll lose. Don't drink that other stuff because it just keeps you from drinking the water.

      I've got a MAGIC WEIGHT LOSS potion...and it's pretty much free. Water!

        I dislike the taste of aspartame (this started once I really started doing Atkins again seriously) so I don't have a problem with not drinking soda or crystal light.

        I use to, however, drink only club soda and no water. Over time I have cut that down considerably so I only drink club soda a couple times a week.

        I even cut out coffee...and I LOVE coffee. On the weekends I drink decaf with a touch of heavy cream and splenda. Too much cream does seem to stall me but I look forward to it as my weekend ritual so I take the risk.

        Change is hard but it does get easier. I urge you to cut out the soda! Once you do over time you will lose the taste.

          I really don't miss soda. OCCASIONALLY I will eye the Diet Dr. Pepper with something like lust, but I realize that I am a former caffiene addict, and I do *NOT* want to go through that withdrawal again! Once was bad enough. I've never been a coffee drinker. If I'm sick, I'll drink green tea or peppermint tea. My favorite drink? Water with lemon!

          The only non-watery thing I drink is alcohol. I love a glass of wine with a nice dinner, or a whiskey and soda when I go out. But I can't drink too often or it slows/stops my weight loss.

            Just remember we are allowed 3 servings of artificially sweetened foods/drinks per day. Each packet of sweetener, each serving of diet soda, each serving of a artificially sweetened food/condiment counts as one of those 3 daily servings.

              What's wrong with Crystal Light? I like the peach tea! It has zero carbs.

                Crystal Light is usually sweetened with aspartame, but the newer prepared beverages are now sweetened with sucralose.
                atkins does not support aspartame.
                8. Use sucralose or saccharin as a sweetener. Be sure to count each packet of any of these as 1 gram of carbs, because of the fillers and bulking agents which are added.
